I don’t think anyone was trying to criticize him. It seems more like they were pointing out that when a player from a different school does something similar to a St. John’s player, it’s viewed more positively. |
No one said Kabiri did 2 tears of HS at Landon. Hhe did 8th and 9th grade at Landon and then transferred to Episcopal where he repeated and did 9th grade again. After the conclusion of his 10th-grade season, he transferred to Prep for his junior and senior seasons. No one is denying he is an exceptional player at both the HS and Collegiate ranks. |
The post replied to literally says exactly that (mostly because of how the post previous was framed) unless you have a different way of coming up with 6 years for high school. |
Kabiri did five years of high school.
The only reason there was any controversy was because he moved IAC schools twice and historically the MD schools (Prep and Landon) didn't allow reclasses that resulted in five years of high school athletics (JV at Landon, Varsity x2 EHS, Varsity x2 Prep). At the end, no one really cared because covid negatively affected so many kids. He left for EHS because he couldn't re-do a year of high school at Landon, and it was legitimately in his best interest to have another year of high school to develop physically. Agree with the most recent poster that everyone should be rooting for his continued success as a DMV product |
You can reclassify at Landon while being a student there. He left bc his parents got mad he didn’t make varsity as a freshman over less deserving players. What is kind of lost is he was an easy all American after his junior year and was getting the same kind of offers as what he ended up with at Princeton. Either way, it’s working out on the field, academically and will pay off after school. |
Landon doesn't repeat their own kids in their own high school. They'll reclass new students and maybe middle schoolers, but they don't have five year Landon high school students. |
Are you trolling? This was discussed earlier in the thread. There are students there right now who reclassed in high school. It’s unusual for any student to reclassify at their own school but not unprecedented. |
You do understand that WANTING another year of high school to physically develop more is not a ‘legitimate’ reason to repeat a year of high school right?? |
What do you think this is, a Wendy's? This is a lacrosse site in 2024. And a private school thread at that. |
I rather discuss who is projected to be very strong in the spring of 2025… which teams will trail off and why… which teams are prime to have a breakout year.
|
Kabiri had trouble competing with the 22 class he should have graduated in. It was the right decision for him to reclass. |
He was all state in VA in 21. He was all state in MD in 22. (,no season in 20). So suspect you might be wrong. |
He was all state in 2021 because he reclassified |
If the goal is to get into top school … |
He wouldn’t have been ranked in the Top 50 if he stayed in the class of 22. Playing time was minimal when he played on the Hawks team. JV player at Landon as a 22. I suspect you have no idea. |
