I mean after a 5 goal run in 5 minutes, the coach should have adjusted. SJC could not get the draw and best circle girl double teamed most of the game. PVI knew what they needed to do. SJC went man down for almost a half and still only lost by 1 in OT. Coaching, too many yellows, and some horrendous shots caused them the game. In games like this the captains must lead and the better coached team generally always wins in OT. It was the kind of championship game you want to watch. Most of the game was tied score. PVI was the better team today. Congratulations.

Goalie play and free position goals were the difference. Need to finish the easy ones and St. John’s did a poor job.

This is wrong. PVI’s control of the draw was the difference. PVI went 8 straight on draw controls at one point in the first half which brought PVI back from a 1-5 hole. SJC shot well and goalie played well too. PVI made adjustments on the circle and SJC failed to respond. That’s coaching. SJC had better talent but PVI was better coached.

Not cool to single out a player like that.

Agreed, I’d like to see anyone posting here try to play goalie.

True but PVI goalie made some tough saves. SJC didn’t. SJC missed several free position shots. Could have easily put the game away if they finished.

Didn’t think it was possible to think less of PVI. Thanks for proving us wrong. What a classless post. Enjoy losing tomorrow.

Puzzled by the claim PVI’s goalie performed better than SJC’s when the score at the start was 1-5. Draw controls got PVI back in the game. It was even from there out. Both goalies performed well after a horrible PVI start.

You ever stepped in the circle on a free shot from the 8? It isn't as easy as you seem to think.

Easily putting the game away with FPS shots is harder than you may think. The NCAA teams with the best FPS shooting percentages make just over 1 of 2.

This is so vile. If you are grown adults…you won’t change and I feel sorry for your childhood that you now have to live thru others. If these are players on this message board…cut it out.

Remember lax fans - players get the credit & coaches get the blame. The SJC family knows exactly what the situation is. Don't be surpised if you see some upcoming changes.

Shot clock and stronger defenses create a different strategy. Far more common in college to pass out. 90%+ of free positions that I've seen in HS this year (I'm a goalie dad, so watch this pretty intently) are either crank from the 8, charge the goalie and shoot between 4m and the crease or a set pass play to a shooter. High school defenses are not as adept at cutting off the shot, so far more quality shots on FPS at this level. If my goalie saves 50% a game, that's a great day. Offense should convert on FPS about 65% to 75% at this level.

^ That said, lacrosse is won or lost as a team and the analysis of the mistakes or shortcomings of 14 to 18 year old girls here is more than a bit inappropriate.

Best counter to this that I ever heard from an All-American goalie was 'Before the ball ever gets to me it had to get by a WHOLE lot of my teammates first.'

You are being far too generous to the shooters. I have managed lacrosse stats for many years. The absolute best sharp shooters will convert 70% of FPS shots in high school. This holds true at the collegiate level as well. There are not many shooting at this percentage at either level.

The median for college teams is 43% and based on my experience about 50% at the high school level. This notion that FPS shots are an easy layup are not grounded on facts. What’s important is players/parents/coaches recognize these odds and especially those of individual players and know when to pull the FPS out.

SJC has more talent but PVI has better coaching. That was the difference. SJC has had some nice wins despite the lack of coaching and ability to develop her talent.

In my opinion St. John’s girls lax did a great job. The girls did the best they could with the coaching they had :/. The goalie all these middle aged anonymous women that are trashing a 17 year old should really check their priorities. SJC on top always. Stay haters.
