$7/gallon gas is coming

Windfall tax on the oil companies. Right now there is no incentive not to sell to the highest bidder and enjoy the huge profits.

Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya. Kumbaya, my lord, kumbaya.

Give me nuclear power, kumbaya.
Give me China’s rare earth metal supply, kumbaya.
Give me EV car batteries that die in 5-7 years and need to be disposed of in outer space, kumbaya.
Give me China’s PV thin film industry, kumbaya,
Give me big overpriced wind turbines that break down every other month and cost $500k a year each to maintain, kumbaya.

Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya.

Well if this post doesn’t show exactly the types of assholes I am specifically voting against then nothing will. Republicans are just bullies who don’t discuss anything in good faith. They don't have any consistent ideas other than culture war trolling.

With Bidenomics at full swing expect your grocery bill to hit 500+ on what you’re already paying.
Everything from oil to fertilizer to engine parts have run up.

This was happening in November before the invasion and it’s just moved a little faster than it would have now.

I know under Trump we didn’t have wars and inflation.

Nope. Just relentless pressure on the fed to keep the good times rolling, and an unmitigated disaster of a pandemic response.

That’ll definitely get them to produce more oil….

We had a Covid-provided world-wide recession, so gas prices were low. But please explain through what mechanism Trump prevented Putin from starting a war. Threats? Yeah right.

False. Here are the facts

Under Trump:
No war
Economic prosperity
Low fuel prices
Lowest monitory unemployment in history

Under Biden
War
High gas prices
High food prices
High inflation
Failure in Afghanistan
Skyrocketing inflation in commodities

Trump has enacted tough sanctions on Putin:

Biden lifted the sanctions and green-lighted Putin
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57180674.amp

As we see form facts, Biden’s actions emboldened Putin and despite Zelensky and others begging, the US didn’t reinstate the sanctions

Remove the stick from back there. I enjoyed the disjointed, arrhythmic, overwrought nature of the post. My only quibble is that PP forgot the birds with the wind turbines!

US is the largest oil producer in the world, surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia in 2018. Our oil production went from 5m to 13m barrels per day over the last 12 years. That 8m barrels per day growth over 12 years is roughly the equivalent of the entire production of Saudi Arabia (9m), Russia (8m), or two Canadas (4m x 2).

Do not think for a second that the US cannot easily increase our oil production. We produce the most oil in the world and we sit on top of oceans of reserves. The idea that we need to offset the decline in Russia’s production from Venezuela (800k/d), Iran (2m/d), and Saudi is disgraceful. Biden would literally rather enrich these regimes than American workers.

Its also a little more complex than just barrel production per day. We extract shale oil which is a lighter crude oil than the crude oil extracted from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. Almost every American refinery is outfitted for the heavier grade crude oil. In fact, the first refinery in 43 years to get permits fully approved was in 2020 and construction starts sometime in 2022. The refinery is specifically refining shale oil, which is great, but it’s only able to refine 49,500b/day due to all the red tape they’ve had to jump through to even get that approved. We need to change our strategy of refining the oil we extract because that can lead to us actually being energy independent.

TL;DR US refineries are not outfitted for shale oil and until we build refineries for shale oil we’ll continue to rely on imports of crude oil.

Keystone carries dirty, low quality Canadian tar sands oil that isn't easily refined. The fact that it isn't easily refined is why Canada isn't refining it themselves, and why it is getting piped all the way across the US Gulf coast to one of the few refineries in the world that can process it. And then, when processed, most of it has been getting sold for export which does not help domestic gas prices.

And contrary to the FOX News type propaganda and disinformation, US production capacity has NOT been shut down, permits are NOT being denied. Biden administration issued thousands of new permits including offshore and on federal lands over the last year.
