Have your ever had a drink(s) while working/at work? (telework and alcohol with your lunch included)

I have not but have you? How common is this?

I have but like, very very rarely. Like going out to a long lunch with a female coworker and scandalously having a glass of wine. And usually regretting it when I get sleepy that afternoon.

I'd say like only a couple times in my entire time working (mid-30s)

I used to work for a construction company. Beers at lunch were pretty common. The office had a built-in wine bar, well used on Friday afternoons

Not common.

Years ago I went to lunch with a senior partner who insisted up martinis were better than iced tea. The partner who I worked for laughed when I told him where I went to lunch and sent me home! Another partner had a 3 martini lunch everyday and was unavailable after 2 in the afternoon.

I've done it a few times. Super easy to do if you're teleworking.

On snow days I will occasionally have a glass of wine or beer while working from home.

Otherwise, my office has late afternoon happy hours once in a while, but people generally have a few beers or a few glasses of wine. No one gets tipsy.

I have a couple times but not with anyone I WORK WORK with, just ex coworkers or quasi coworkers. I'm not a 'drinks to relax' person.

In my old office, we'd have wine and beer at lunch-time celebrations (Thanksgiving potluck, Halloween party). My boss was the biggest drinker. We would occasionally have office bike rides out to get lunch that involved a beer or two - one of which resulted in a number of coworkers having to walk their bikes back and skip the afternoon at work. At another, more corporate job, drinks at lunches out with colleagues were common.

In my current job, drinking and work mix, but only after hours (i.e. happy hour where colleagues from different departments get together and hatch new initiatives over beer). Once, I cracked open a beer while teleworking on a Friday afternoon in the summer after a particularly tough week as a celebratory, it's-almost-the-weekend gesture, which was kind of awesome.

When I worked on wall st, it was definitely common to have a drink before evening time. There were occasions when we would do shots of Macallan at lunch, and sometimes before. Thursday nights were mandatory drinking nights.
Lets not even get into meetings with clients. Or the drugs I have seen people use for that matter. Police think poor minority communities are drug infested. Lets just say police are patrolling the wrong buildings...

As someone who is, and never was, a drinker, this lifestyle was rather difficult for me. Still, its amazing to see what you could get done in a 20 hour work day when you start your alcohol intake before lunch.

I telework full time and I haven't done this, but it's giving me ideas for working on my back deck over the summer!. Prior, I have gone to meet a former co-worker for lunch and we would have a glass of wine and then pretty much call it for the day. I did that twice. I'm 48 so this isn't common for me at all.

Yes, rarely though. Coworkers and I went to lunch during a very painful work retreat and had a few drinks each. After we went back and participated, the meeting organizer complemented us on our much improved morale and participation rate. Ha.

Otherwise, no.

My old law firm had drinks every night in their "Garden Room" - starting at 6. Most people went back to work. I wonder if this is still the case?

Now, in an international organization, we have drinks on special lunches throughout the year or the occasional morale-boosting happy hour sponsored by senior management. Not much otherwise.

I've had a drink at a lunchtime celebration maybe once or twice.

For a time I was doing a lot of paperwork review while teleworking and I would occasionally have a beer in the afternoon while I did it. Never more than one, and I never felt like it impacted my performance in any way.

At one of my jobs - the managers and a few select employees would go in to an office, shut the door, and drink in the afternoons (not every afternoon but once in a while). For real. They also had alcoholic drinks available at the during the workday holiday party.
