I took a client to lunch once in New York -- fancy Russian restaurant they chose (and I paid for). I couldn't find anything on the menu that I wanted to eat.
Their lunch consisted of 6 shots of vodka on ice. Each. |
| Wine at lunch is fairly common. I was in the digital/dem/start up space for a while and happy hours, early drinks in the afternoon were pretty normal. |

When I was still a researcher, we used to take our weekly seminar speaker out to lunch...usually at the local winery where we'd order wine. Then again, my supervisor was a very highly functioning alcoholic...
When I was a Fed there was one or two occasions each year that warranted a celebratory lunch (major deliverables that usually came after months of late evening and weekend work). We'd go out for a team lunch and many people ordered a drink. |
| I work from home and will, on occasion, have a drink or two. Especially during boring conference calls in the afternoon. |
| Our firm will have an event with alcohol in the office and I will bring a glass back to my desk. I telework a couple of times a week and don't think I've ever had a drink while working. |
|
Yes.
When I was a newspaper writer, it was pretty standard. As were oher things. In education, less so. It's more a happy hour deal. When I telework, I'll sometimes have a beer on the back deck while working, or some Kahlua in my coffee. |

When I used to work at the CBOE you would regularly find people doing blow in the bathrooms. Sometimes even on the floor.
Watching people get anxious about a beer kind of cracks me up now by comparison. |
|
When we go out to lunch as a group, we drink. If we have a party at work, we drink. For awhile we had wine Fridays where we drank in the office around 3pm every week. If we had to deal with a shitty meeting, we drink. Yesterday we split a bottle of wine between 5 of us and plan to drink some more wine today.
so..I'd say at my job it happens fairly often. |
|
Umm, yes. Frequently (although less so as I have transitioned to different positions). Totally depends on the group in attendance and occasion.
At my old company the monthly all staff meeting always, always included beer and wine. |
| Only once -- when I had a clerkship in New Orleans. |
| No. But I only occasionally (maybe once a month) have a drink outside of work either. It's ok, but just not something I'm really into. |
| Sure, I've had a margarita or glass of wine at lunch. Not a big deal at all. |
| I get so tired. I would just need a nap. |
| Very rarely when I was at a law firm and there were work events. Never in the decade in which I've been in government. I like drinking when I am done. |

Similar to the PP at 13:56.
When I was at a law firm, when the associates would go out for lunch (or even with a partner), yes, a beer with lunch would be normal. Not mandatory, of course, but no one would care if you got a beer instead of a Coke/iced tea. Now with the government, heck no. |
