Why can't a nice, normal house like this be in our price range?

I think this house is adorable. It would be perfect for our family and looks like a happy place. But a million dollars?!?

Adorable + Wolf range + dead end street < 15 minutes from the White House + probably the best school district in Arlington = a million dollars.

Sorry.

Don't forget almost half an acre and five bedrooms.

It's a shame. That house in many other suburbs around the country would be $350k tops. What can you do? This is DC.

"almost all errands involve a car"

If I had to spend $1mil for a house, I damn sure would buy one where I could walk to buy a loaf of bread.

Because there are more people who want nice normal houses like this that there are houses available, so the prices go up correspondingly because someone else will pay that much for it.

if the transplants could move out and we could revert back to 1999 that house will go down to it's true price of $180k

Not a lot of growth in Arlington, VA besides the expensive location you won't see businesses falling over themselves to grab a spot due to the rising rents. A lot of my favorite places that have been there decades closed due to gentrification.

Great house. If you don't want walkable.

Love it. DC real estate prices are so depressing.

Right. But they don't have the jobs like they do here and in many of these cities there's a sahm. No thanks.

Move to ny. You'll be dreaming of that close in house you can get for a million. You'll be paying a million for a house that requires an hour and a half train and subway commute.

Ok, we have to be in a bubble, right?
