Did anyone watch this tonight? I am a HUGE fan of AR, but I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to stomach this season of YouTube and social media "stars". What an incredibly annoying group of wannabes. There were a few that were ok, but the rest constantly act like they're in one of their insipid videos and I just want them gone, immediately. The worst were the daughter of the older man (that voice!!) and the blond son with his mom.
What was wrong with just using regular people? None of these people are famous, and if they are, it's only among shallow people who are just like them. Ok, vent over. |
|
Yes! Yes! I feel the same way. Sadly we watch as a family and my kids are so excited since they watch some of those people.
I think this means we are old. ? |
| Totally agree. The blond guy you mentioned was driving me nuts. His mom seems very sweet so I couldn't totally root against them. But I hate the swimsuit models. Blech. My kids love AR but they don't know any of these fools. |

I suspect the ratings for last night will be the highest of the season, because people will get fed up with the theme and stop watching.
Usually, I find someone to pull for after the 1st episode airs, but all these teams are going to annoy me in some way. I haven't heard of any of these "celebrities". If this is the last season of the show, what a lousy way to go. |
| I used to be a HUGE fan of this show, but I haven't been able to get into it for a while. It used to be mostly regular people, but now everyone has a plan for playing the game, or are faux "celebrities" already. Bummer. Team Guido wouldn't stand a chance. |
| I was really skeptical but thought it was kind of refreshing when we actually got to see them. They're all so friendly and outgoing. I'm hopeful. |
That won't last long. You may get two or three teams work together for a while, but the reality is you should always run your own race. |
Another TAR fan here. I hate the pseudo-celebrities. Aren't there enough interesting "real" people to cast? I always find the regular teams so much more interesting than those who are constantly mugging for the camera with their practiced expressions. Yuck. I missed last night, and I'm not sure I'm interested enough to tune in next week. |
| Go through Phil's twitter, he tried to defend the casting of the show, and it doesn't hold water. |
| I watched after reading these comments and was pleasantly surprised! There are only a few really obnoxious teams -- and that happens every season. |
| Is it the last season of AR? |
Skeptical poster here -- don't get me started on "alliances"! Stupid Survivor concept polluting TAR! We binge-watched past seasons during the blizzard on Amazon Prime (most seasons are there!). So I'm kind of responding to the relatively upbeat outlook that many of them have, rather than them helping each other. I always yell at the TV when people help each other. (Just watched season 12 where the second to last team to leave the camel-milking roadblock told the remaining team how to get more milk, and ended up getting eliminated when that team passed them later. Sigh.) |
|
Oh, and I picked Darius and Cameron to win, though I was concerned that I could not remember anyone so tall winning in the past. They gave me a scare there before the overnight wait, and was a little concerned about the homeschooling vs street smarts equation. But things looked better by the end.
|
YES! Another thing that bugs me to death is when teams take it oh-so-personally when another team U-turns them. Um, hello... that's part of the game!!?!?! It's like it's the worst possible affront, when in reality, it's just another aspect of the game. The teams that throw tantrums and vow revenge make me want to puke. Is this really the last season of TAR?? What a sad way to go out. |

I love how Scott Fowler (Blair Juicystar07's father) is always bragging on her videos about how he is a doctor & a lawyer & a pilot & a geologist and um did you know he is a doctor AND a lawyer.
Yet on this he was dumb as a box of hair. |
