New season of Amazing Race

Yet on this he was dumb as a box of hair.

I haven't watched yet but I don't think I want to watch anyone who named themselves juicystar. Oh Phil. Why?

Let's put it this way, the next two editions of Survivor will be filmed back to back starting next month, so CBS has already renewed that show.

There has been no word about this show being renewed, but the fall schedule gets announced in May. If you look at the ratings from the last few years and then being put on Friday's, the drop is significant.

That won't last long. You may get two or three teams work together for a while, but the reality is you should always run your own race.

Skeptical poster here -- don't get me started on "alliances"! Stupid Survivor concept polluting TAR!

We binge-watched past seasons during the blizzard on Amazon Prime (most seasons are there!). So I'm kind of responding to the relatively upbeat outlook that many of them have, rather than them helping each other. I always yell at the TV when people help each other. (Just watched season 12 where the second to last team to leave the camel-milking roadblock told the remaining team how to get more milk, and ended up getting eliminated when that team passed them later. Sigh.)

YES! Another thing that bugs me to death is when teams take it oh-so-personally when another team U-turns them. Um, hello... that's part of the game!!?!?! It's like it's the worst possible affront, when in reality, it's just another aspect of the game. The teams that throw tantrums and vow revenge make me want to puke.

Is this really the last season of TAR?? What a sad way to go out.

As the folks on TWOP used to say, "Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!"

I just watched it. Wow, that was terrible. Some of the teams were incredibly annoying. The blond son & mom... the frisbee guys from U of Florida, and the doctor/lawyer and daughter. The first 2 of those teams were just YELLING the entire time ("ARE YOU PLAYING????!!!!") and the dad's voice was beyond annoying.

I really liked Darius and Cameron (the brothers whose mother placed a value on education). But I can't watch for them alone.

I don't think this is the last season of Amazing Race.

+1
I love Amazing Race but just don't think I can stomach this season. The teams are just playing for the camera, at all times and it makes me sick the way they're constantly mugging and trying to out-cute one another. I'm sad because I always LOVE the start of new AR seasons. Not this time.

Anyone think there will be tasks that involve selfies, or selfies taken at the mat?

16:02 again.

I didn't know any of the teams, of course, so I asked my 11-year-old kid. He knew Tyler (one of the YouTubers from Michigan State with the crazy hair) and that was it. DS wouldn't have any reason to follow the fashion / beauty or dance bloggers and I don't think he pays attention to any Vines.

I think he'd like the "magic vine" couple and Cameron/Darius. They were the 2 I really liked. (I had forgotten about the "magic vine" couple when I wrote my comments yesterday.)

Its trying to appeal to younger people. my DD really loves the blond kid.

That is not the demographic of who watches the show though.

If these people were that big of a deal, the ratings would have been much higher (total viewers) and that was not the case.

This will end up being the worst edition since the family edition a long time ago.

I agree that there is no need to have an ENTIRE cast of youtube/video stars. It is to much personality.

I actually really like last season with the dating couples, especially the blind dates. I think the idea of 2 random people put together to compete was kind of fun.

omg, the family edition. It seemed like a good idea, though. By the middle of that season, I just felt sorry for Phil.

I canceled our season pass for Amazing Race yesterday. It really bums me out, but I can't handle most of the YouTubers. (Other teams were fine, but the constant "Over the top" personalities of the YouTuber teams just wasn't enjoyable.)

So...
(1) Hopefully CBS will get the message that this season stinks if enough people cancel their DVRs.

(2) if the annoying teams get ousted fairly early, please report back so I can start watching again.

So much screaming....

Marty and Hagan are the first ones eliminated.

I'm 39 and also only knew of Tyler Oakley. All I want in life is for them to do Amazing Race All Stars and have Jon Knight on again with his hot Hispanic husband Harley.

Tyler (and his teammate) were trending last night nationwide on Twitter.

I had not heard of any of these people (although the Southwest Airlines video did ring a bell) and it is interesting to see how many followers they have (some are into the 100K+, others are low).

I couldn't quit laughing at the one girl that brought a hair dryer and curling iron but forgot a swimsuit! Come on, they are staying in nice hotels for the most part (even if they don't end up in the final 3, they travel to the destination of the remaining teams).
