Best classes/exercise to tone up

Anonymous
40 year old female here. Not overweight but Gravity is kicking in. Problem areas include my stomach (jiggly and getting a muffin top- ewwwww) and butt. I can't afford a personal trainer. What are the best classes/exercises to tone up- cross fit, boot camp?

Do you live near an Orange Theory gym? I like that place a lot.

Strength training classes.

I love the way Crossfit covers strength, flexibility, and cardio - but you need to find the right box. Some boxes just suck.

Lift weights. I know you said you can't afford a personal trainer, but maybe see if your gym offers small group classes. I go to Sport and Health, and they offer a small group class that is $173/month for 2 classes per week (It averages out to $20/class.) There can be up to 4 people in the class, but at least in my class, sometimes people can't make it so there is often fewer. The other people in the class are at different levels of fitness--the trainer just adapts the exercise to each person "Jenny, you lift 20. Debbie, you lift 30" type thing.

Crossfit can be high impact, FYI. I personally can't do it. Resistance exercises are best for me, including pilates and exercises using resistance bands.

Try a boot camp class. I used to do the Sergeant's Program and got into the best shape of my life from it. It will be a great mix of cardio and strength training.

+1 to Body Pump. Wash. Sports Club and Sport & Health also offer it.

How much does Orange Theory cost?

I think it's pretty expensive. I know my local one is $69 for the basic level, which only includes one session per week. It is $129 for the "unlimited."
