why does subway smell so subway-y

It has such a distinct smell to me, more so then any other fast food place. It kinda smells like playdoh to me. Even there cups smell like it. Occasionally it smells like fresh bread but more so just like itself. Am I the only one? Is this in my mind??

Laughing right now, because I totally agree!

Also, when my husband gets back in the car from 7-11, he always smells like coffee and cleaning solution.

I have supersonic smell by the way.

It's the yeast in the breads. They ship the bread as frozen dough, then put them in the sub roll pans, then warm them to rise and then bake them. Each location does this, so they always smell like the same bread rolls.

I used to work in a building that had one on the ground floor. I couldn't eat there for years due to the smell.

Target also has a very distinct smell -- is it those gray carpets? I don't know what it is, but I can never shop there because of the smell.

Be glad it smells like that.

I once got a subway sandwich from one of the older casinos (not a super glam one) in Vegas. I took the sandwich out of the bag and it smelled like.... feet.

I had to throw it out. I haven't wanted to eat there since, and that was probably 10 years ago.

I'm laughing because my mother was recently in line at Giant and when she got up to the cashier, he asked her if she'd just come from Subway. She was mortified.
