ECNL will still be club based for top division but will create a “ECNL” league for individual teams to be relegated to the top as well. The top being an ECNL individual league for best teams from RL going up. The best teams from the ECNL2 league will also be invited to ECNL1 showcases and the top teams will play in league cups for a chance to compete against the ECNL 1 teams in their region or league.

Lots of changes will be happening.

If ECNL actually moved away from club-based membership to team-based placement with promotion and relegation, that would be impressive.

They are not based off what they wrote.
Sounds like ECNL will offer both? A club based model and an opportunity for individual teams to win their way into ECNL. Sounds very confusing.

Would also make scheduling games much more complicated. It's simple to say team A you host Team B at all age groups this day. Vs having to individually schedule all teams at all ages.

They’re still doing regular club v club. But will be adding what is basically the USYS model National League under that. With some of those teams being included in events (which are not club v club). Seems easy to do to me. But there is a reason the USYS model has struggled in recent years and I’m not sure ECNL taking it on will make it much better but who knows.

Word is US Club is absorbing USYS so this makes sense. I like the idea of a team being able to work
Their way up and have an opportunity to compete against the top level.

Well certainly not absorbing all of USYS. But their regional and national competitions? That makes sense for both Orgs.

US Club sanctions ECNL, ECNL-R and NPL.

So USYS would merge with ECNL?

No, that would never happen. What might happen is they (US Club) would take over USYS’s National leagues.

Us club also governs lower level league that offer rec to premier level competition. But ECNL basically calls the shots for us club and hide behind the shield of us clubs decisions.

News from our club.

They strongly believe MLS Next will publish a statement during near MLS Next Fest (starting December 4th) regarding 2026/27 age cutoffs.

Get your magic 8 balls out folks!

I’d love to see the exact wording from your club. The fact that we’re at a point where they’re hoping to maybe have a statement on the record is crazy.

Part of me hopes they just say they’re not changing a thing. It would really add something to the staggering level of incompetence they’ve had on display when handling this so far.

One of my hopes is that MLSN will start to be run better now that they've found a model to make money Expanding Homegrown, adding AD, and eventually and inevitably MLSN 3 plus GA.

Just a standard level of competence with communications, planning, schedule etc. I didn't love ECNL but they were organized well.

Fest next month will be the first event they’ll do with another league involved (MLSN2 attending). We shall see how it goes.

I am predicting a cluster if there is even the slightest hiccup. I can already see some issues as they have teams who I know aren’t going scheduled for games… I’m glad it is my wife’s turn to do this one (player is MLSN1).

If they are announcing next week my guess is they will switch to SY for the non academy team. Otherwise easy to send something out now to stay BY.

But time shall tell.

So what you're saying is theyre going to stay BY or change to SY.
