OP, it that your ranked list? Just curious bc I can't tell whether you're prioritizing location, Montessori, or language.

Yes ranked. I value all three, so it is just a matter of what Montessori or language schools in the area that I like. I am very impressed with Lee and they have promised to stay in ward five. I love YY as a school (beautiful building!) but don't value Chinese as much as french of Spanish, which is why it ended up #2 not #1 I know a happy family at Stokes, it has been around for a long time, and it is very very close (plus I know french). So those are my top three.

I'm guessing you are applying to LAMB too.

Do you know how many total PK3 spots are available in the schools you selected?

What is your K plans?

What is your plan if you strike out for 3, 4 and K?

Also curious. Do people not put "safety" schools on there? Will you just keep your kid in daycare or with a nanny if/when you don't get in?

I would guess Breakthrough is a pretty good safety

I'll bite. I am on Capitol Hill IB for Ludlow Taylor. I haven't submitted my list yet and would love some feedback for PK-3. We are also applying to some private preschools as a back up, but we want her somewhere next year. Can live with LT but we feel like we can always get in there next year and this is our chance to try for something else. Can also tolerate a little bit of a commute for the right school. Wouldn't mind immersion, but no interest in Chinese.

1.) SWS (only because it's next to our house. Haven't toured it yet)
2.) MV
3.) CM (seems nice but commute might not be worth it)
3.) Two Rivers
4.) Two Rivers -Young
5.) IT (know someone happy there)
6.) Lee Montessori
7.) Stokes Spanish
8.) Stokes French
9.) LT

I feel like I am kind of guessing at the right order and there may be some schools I'm missing. Without a spectacular lottery number, I think the outcome will be LT anyway

16:40 again. I'm going to add:
10.) Van Ness
11.) J.O. Wilson

I realized that LT wait listed IB kids last year and isn't a sure thing anymore for IB.

Does anyone know how deep the Wait Lists went for some of these schools last year?

last year is not a good data point. CM moved and MV did a massive expansion, 2R opened a new campus.

This year there are no known new spots AND there are a lot of families in the area of Shaw / Truxton Circle who have and oldest child entering Pk3.

Look around at the # of families you know who are all interested in the same 10 spots.

I would recommend starting a new post asking this question:
Current PrK3 parents who had the following schools on your lottery list CM, IT, MV, Lee, 2R, Stokes

Where did you wind up? Knowing what you know now, would you do anything different?
