Bullis concerns

So true.

What I will say is that my son who is not an athlete but a musician has found the upper school to be a wonderful place for him. The music program is simply outstanding. He has good friends, is not bullied and enjoys most of his teachers. The school has allowed him to explore so many things that interest him and he has found his passion. The college counseling is exceptional and is working with him to help him find the right school for him. My husband and I have found some parents who are not our kind of people but many people who are kind, fun and down to earth (you can't always judge a book by its cover). I will always be grateful to this school for being the perfect place for my child and helping him to become a whole and decent and curious person.

Just wonderful.

Uncle.
Can we please let the last word be that Bullis is "wonderful" and "the perfect place" and end this thread?

Agreed. I really wish this thread were locked. Endless cycle of hate or praise; nothing to gain from it. No new information.

I'm a fifth generation Washingtonian and alum. We looked at Bullis for our kid but it wasn't the right fit from a commute perspective. I know plenty of folks who grew up here and went to peer schools whose kids attend Bullis. My sense also is that the percentage from MoCo is higher than from PG. As usual, the "facts" as presented by the anti-Bullis contingent are skewed.

No school is perfect but Bullis is a pretty great place. If you are looking to send your kid to private school, you should do diligence that extends beyond listening to the praise or brickbats of a bunch of anonymous posters (including me).

I'm a recent Bullis parent. If it matters, I can tell you that based on the last directory I have, the demographic split varies by grade and is something like this: 5% China, 15% DC/Bethesda/CC, 30-40% Potomac, 25% broader MoCo (Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg et al), 5% NoVa, and 15-20% PG.

I am someone who has posted at least a couple of times discussing some of my very real concerns about the school's finances, academics, and culture. No skewed facts from me.

I'm also 8:47 offering that we all allow the last word to be a positive one and move on. Now that "5th generation Washingtonian and Bullis alum" has had a chance to weigh in, can we agree to find something more productive to discuss.

Very old directory for sure, but who cares where the kids live. That is not the point. The point is that most of the kids come from outside of MOCO. No skewed facts from me either.

Even if we ignore the portion of the 15% that comes from Bethesda and the Maryland part of Chevy Chase, how exactly does 55% to 65% (aggregating Potomac and broader MoCo) not constitute most of the kids coming from MoCo?

If you have more recent data, go right ahead and post it. I'd like to think that you are not just looking at skin colors in making your assumption as to where the kids are coming from.

Wait are we now trying to argue that Bullis is diverse?
Anonymous
It's very diverse. More so than the other privates in the IAC/ISL that we looked at for our kids (we did not look at Sidwell). That was a big factor in deciding to send our kids there.

How do you do that eye roll emoji again?

If you spent any time on the campus or waiting in carpool line, you would know it is very diverse.
