What age does that start? No one will care below what age? U12?

It happened to my kid at the end of his U10 year. Crazy. Just makes you that much more confident in the decision to leave.

We also had a few coaches that stayed in touch with us over the years and have remained mentors for my kid even after we left. They ended up leaving the Club as well.

It's nutso--though. I actually saw a coach from our former club at the tryout and he was texting on his phone--I know reporting back.

We were very professional about the whole thing. Always leave on good terms--but some adults act like children and think everything is about them.

When you are paying thousands of dollars for something--shouldn't you comparison shop, check out the quality, etc??? It should be encouraged.

What’s considered unprofessional?

Bad mouthing the club and/or coach on your way out. Actively recruiting other families from the club to follow your lead and pull their kids. Throwing a fit with the coach and/or TD. Yanking a kid before the season is over leaving the team short. I'm sure there are more, but these are just a few...

I think that is correct. We have left clubs in the past and not an issue as long as you keep those thoughts private.

The harder part are the Spring exit strategies. Parents and coaches do immediately start texting and acting like you are some traitor.

Ignore it. You don't need to tell the coach and both sides play dumb all Spring. If the coach retaliates in play time, then it just reinforces and makes it a lot easier to leave. But often you leave on good terms and no problem, just a change of direction and coaches get it. The good ones at least . . .

I would rather a kid leave than have an environment that is detrimental (potentially toxic) to the child or the team. Isn't this, not unlike injuries, why clubs try to have a large player pool?

In my experience, trying to be discrete in the spring time is nearly impossible. It's gonna leave people saying they understand or they don't, but they are determined to get the details.

To be honest, since most parents don't have the experience, i get it and am always trying to be an honest broker from the minimal experience. At least it gets people discussing the best for their child depending on what they want out of youth soccer.

Great weekend for Northern Virginia girls soccer....at Jeff cup Mclean won the showcase top division at U16, U17 and U19, and BRYC won the top division at U15. Really great considering there were top teams from all over the east coast!

I guess some parents want to make everyone (including themselves) believe that GDA will dominate ECNL in no time.

I guess some parents and or club members want others to believe that ECNL is still a good league for 04s and below in hopes of attracting new talent.

This past weekend was “girls showcase” (U15 and up). Youngest played the previous week.

BRYC's 06 girls are very strong. Larry Best has been coaching them. The 05s have struggled. The 04s are pretty solid, and the 03s are very, very strong. I can't speak to the teams younger than that.

BRYC 05's are 8th out of 8 teams in their division
BRYC 04's are 7th out of 8 teams in their division
