It happened to my kid at the end of his U10 year.  Crazy.  Just makes you that much more confident in the decision to leave.

We also had a few coaches that stayed in touch with us over the years and have remained mentors for my kid even after we left.   They ended up leaving the Club as well.

It's nutso--though.  I actually saw a coach from our former club at the tryout and he was texting on his phone--I know reporting back.

Bad mouthing the club and/or coach on your way out. Actively recruiting other families from the club to follow your lead and pull their kids. Throwing a fit with the coach and/or TD. Yanking a kid before the season is over leaving the team short.  I'm sure there are more, but these are just a few...[/quote]

I think that is correct.  We have left clubs in the past and not an issue as long as you keep those thoughts private.

The harder part are the Spring exit strategies.  Parents and coaches do immediately start texting and acting like you are some traitor.

Ignore it.  You don't need to tell the coach and both sides play dumb all Spring.  If the coach retaliates in play time, then it just reinforces and makes it a lot easier to leave.  But often you leave on good terms and no problem, just a change of direction and coaches get it.  The good ones at least . . .  [/quote]
