One of their best players used to play with the boys side and miss the girls’ team games when there was a conflict. Same player called into the U.S. national camp. Heard she’s now exclusively playing with the girls’ team. So that’s an advantage. That team is also made up of a lot of other talented players - obviously can’t all be one person in the game of soccer. They all work hard and are fast on the ball. And they picked up a good player from Beach too. That’s my outside perspective… |
That player was not playing with them this past weekend. Richmond has always been a good team without her. |
I'm not sure a 3-0 win constitutes a blow-out, but it is a decisive win. Particularly when the ball was in FVU's defensive half for the vast majority of the game. FVU's defense did a great job. That said, the point that nobody seems to be focusing on is that the ARL 11's struggle to score in games where they are up against a solid defense/team. Their offense breaks down and turns into individual players, as opposed to working as a team. |
And the score board says….Loss Better luck next time |
The lack of credit given to the top teams in the area is strange. Arlington 2011 gets criticized for scoring enough or having enough possession in a certain part of the field? |
She's also been training with the 09 group as well. Her younger sister is probably even better. Both are really, really good. |
Credit for what? Respect is earned not given. They've done nothing and are barely teenagers. When other people talk about your kid more than you do than you'll have credit. They just entered HS, be patient and stop making it about your ego |
Updated NOVA Power Rankings 1. Arlington - beat FVU 3-0. 2. FVU - 3-0 loss to Arlington keeps them at #2. 3. VDA - win against Wilmington is t enough to overcome loss to Courage to move them up. 4. SYC - beat TSJ 5. Loudoun- tied Alexandria but has a win over McLean 6. McLean - good 1-0 win against VRSC 7. NVA - beat Skyline but not enough to move them up. 8. VRSC - loss to McLean makes voters forget about solid preseason. 9. Alexandria - tied Loudoun. Still not enough data to know their potential. 10. TSJ - long season ahead. |
Swap VDA and SYC and Loudoun and McLean |
Added MD teams here 1. Bethesda 2. Arlington 3. MD United 4. FVU 5. VDA 6. SYC/ NVA 7. Coppermine 8. McLean 9. VRSC There rest is hit or miss. |
My kid's team won, but thanks for the well wishes, Arlington dad (mom?). Your kid's team, however, is going to have some challenges against some of the stronger competition in the league if they don't fix their attack/scoring issues. Not playing as a team in the offensive third, coupled with missed breakaways and crappy behavior towards teammates when things aren't going well are cracks that really start to show when the competition heats up. This isn't a slam against a strong team, just a simple observation for when they are aren't going up against the FVUs and Loudoun's of the world. |
Won’t be enough common opponents to really add MD teams. And fairly will be tough for a GA team to break the top 3 without playing them. Just looked at WAGS and SYC and VRSC are both in the 2nd flight in bracket A. First, both need to lobby to be in the top flight. Second, shame to play each other in this tournament given all the other teams. |
Curious to know how FVU is over VDA. VDA is off to a slow start and may not yet be playing to expectation, but how are they behind FVU? |
