I don’t get why you would say LMFAO about Brave players trying out at SYC. Why is this funny? It’s a stressful situation for many kids—- their parents are helping them explore other options so they don’t wind up in April with no team to play for next year. Sheesh.

There are large numbers of kids trying out at multiple clubs every year, and this year will be even crazier because of the shake ups with FCV/VDA/VSRC and Union/SYC/Brave and NVA/Valor/GFR. Only the top 2-3 kids at clubs are truly safe and even they may think of moving because of the uncertainties. In the end hopefully the moves and consolidations will create stronger NoVA teams. Kids have different goals — some want to have a few solid youth soccer years with no intention of playing in college, some want to play college and beyond, some want D2 of D3, some want D1. Not everyone belongs on a ECNL team or even an GA team despite what their parents think.

The incumbents on the Union teams have the upper hand until it is clear that an outside player is head and shoulders better. That's what sucks about this merger... if you're a mid-pack or lower BRAVE ECNL player, you're in a tough spot. As a parent, it's your job to know how this works and have a plan B at least. Demanding justice will get you nowhere.

Do you know if Nadir or Clyde will be the coaches? What if it’s the Brave or Vienna coaches?

I do not know but my guess is the ECNL coaching slate will be based on current Union coaches Nadir, Matt, Brent. This might be the event that causes Clyde to not take a team. Maybe one BRAVE coach sneaks a team, and the rest are helpers.

It's really an acquisition of one company by another. So, the question is who retains the ECNL National license--and whose 'plan' is it really?

McLean has the ECNL Charter. Brave charter was good for two years and it will not be renewed by ECNL.

BRAVE players and families are very happy with MV as a coach. Just ask any on his current teams. Will be hard to get buy-in from many BRAVE families if he’s not a coach in the new partnership club.
