Teams like HG, BLC, and Coppermine might see some churn in their roster to try and make a push to be a top 5 team next year. Hard to see MnD or MDU making any big moves. |
BLC is losing at least one girl to M&D and dropping others to pick up top talent from other teams. Other teams also had lots of interest at tryouts. |
It’s going to be tough to come in to a team when they’re dropping players to pick you up, good luck to the new girls with that dynamic. |
at a certain age that is standard.... |
For the elite clubs, this starts at a very early age. That's what makes them elite. They can pick up talent and drop players like it's nothing. |
It takes a special kind of adult to do this over and over to kids. Club lax!!! |
I think you’re only talking about a few top kids potentially making moves to top few programs. It happens all the time and usually ends up great for the girl moving and also creates more opportunities for other girls at the program they leave. |
But is also tough for the 11 and 12 year old girls who are dumped from their team and social circle for a slightly more developed 11 or 12 year old. |
It is hard of course. But you’re talking about some of the most elite travel programs in the country, not a neighborhood rec team. It’s a part of life when you’re competing at that level. Hopefully those girls take it as a challenge to keep working hard. |
Let's be honest, some girls don't put in the work required. Why should they get to keep their spot over a more deserving girl? Being there first is not a good reason. |
A few top kids leaving is typically the start of a death spiral, unfortunately. |
In the case of BLC we are lucky to see them go |
BLC parent here. Not everyone feels this way. |
And this is why we have had such a toxic team culture |
Yikes |
