He is already taller than them. Although, there are great uncles on all sides that were over 6', one 6'4". One grandfather was 6'.

Sounds like my brother. 6'4" how tall are the parents?

My cousin was like that and ended up almost 6'6". I don't know how because his dad comes from short Jews and his mom is from short Italians.

Still a relevant question--one of the more reliable formulas for predicting adult height is to add the parents' heights together, add 5 inches for boys, then divide by two. That number is usually plus or minus two inches of their child's adult height (according to the Mayo Clinic, I believe). Another formula is to double a boy's height at 24 months. Being extremely tall at 13 does not mean he will continue to grow at that rate. I was very tall at age 12... and then pretty much stopped growing. My parents are average height, and so am I.

Using one of those formulas would take a random guess to the level of educated guess, which is what you asked for.

I hope this isn't that true! We both come from tall families, but I'm 5'1 and DH is 6'3. I would hope DS would make it to 5'10 at least.

That formula doesn't make any sense.

I ran it for all the men in our family (my side and DH's) and it's just not right. It makes the boys WAY too short. Off by at least 5 inches.

Hmmm. My father was 6'3", mother 5'7". In 7th, 8th grade, I was the tallest kid in my class. Multiple doctors told us that given my growth rate, diet, etc ... that I'd likely be at least as tall as my father.

For all intents and purposes, I stopped growing not long after that. I'm 5'10". It's a good height , but boy did my Dad have big expectations for a while, pun intended.

I'm taller than my mom and dad, also short Italians! My paternal great grandpa was tall though. It can come from anywhere!

Both DH and I are short. However, all other men on both sides of the family are 6 feet or over (except my brother who is 5'10"). DS should be at least 5'10" according to ped. Right now he is average height, weight and shoe size at age 11.

At 13 and 6'1 you may want to have his pituitary checked to make sure everything is functioning okay.
