Educated guess how tall with he be?

For all intents and purposes, I stopped growing not long after that. I'm 5'10". It's a good height , but boy did my Dad have big expectations for a while, pun intended.

My son was the shortest kid in his class at 1$3, now at 16 he is basically the same height as his friends.

Puberty matters, he started late.

One measure that is working out for my kids is double the height when they were 2.

Another formula is add 9 inches to their height at the 1st sign of puberty.

for boys or girls too?

I think the whole thing is more complex. My mom and I are both 5'5" and my father is about 5'3". My brother is 6'4". It made sense because I have uncles on both sides over 6' but using a formula based on parents alone would not account for that.

My nephew is like this. We expect him to stop growing soon. His dad, who's only 5'9", stopped growing at 15.

Seems to be really variable. My husband was 5'11 at 13 -- in his bar mitzvah photos he towers over everyone. He was a beanpole though. As an adult he is 6' even. So he really didn't grow too much more after 13 or 14, just filled out.

How soon will he be 14? They generally go through a majorly rapid growth spurt and then it slows way down. They continue to gain height just not super fast.

As far as how tall he'll be it depends on the kid. My own (newly turned) 13 year old is 5'7"/5'8"ish and he is in the process of growing fast. By summer I expect him to be pushing 5'10 and I'm guestimating a final height of 6'1" to 6'2".

He is already taller than them. Although, there are great uncles on all sides that were over 6', one 6'4". One grandfather was 6'.

Still a relevant question--one of the more reliable formulas for predicting adult height is to add the parents' heights together, add 5 inches for boys, then divide by two. That number is usually plus or minus two inches of their child's adult height (according to the Mayo Clinic, I believe). Another formula is to double a boy's height at 24 months. Being extremely tall at 13 does not mean he will continue to grow at that rate. I was very tall at age 12... and then pretty much stopped growing. My parents are average height, and so am I.

Using one of those formulas would take a random guess to the level of educated guess, which is what you asked for.

That formula doesn't make any sense.

I ran it for all the men in our family (my side and DH's) and it's just not right. It makes the boys WAY too short. Off by at least 5 inches.

It's not a crystal ball, though. Just a range of educated prediction.
