My son was the shortest kid in his class at 1$3, now at 16 he is basically the same height as his friends.
Puberty matters, he started late. One measure that is working out for my kids is double the height when they were 2. Another formula is add 9 inches to their height at the 1st sign of puberty. |
for boys or girls too? |

I think the whole thing is more complex. My mom and I are both 5'5" and my father is about 5'3". My brother is 6'4". It made sense because I have uncles on both sides over 6' but using a formula based on parents alone would not account for that.

| My nephew is like this. We expect him to stop growing soon. His dad, who's only 5'9", stopped growing at 15. |
| Seems to be really variable. My husband was 5'11 at 13 -- in his bar mitzvah photos he towers over everyone. He was a beanpole though. As an adult he is 6' even. So he really didn't grow too much more after 13 or 14, just filled out. |

How soon will he be 14? They generally go through a majorly rapid growth spurt and then it slows way down. They continue to gain height just not super fast.
As far as how tall he'll be it depends on the kid. My own (newly turned) 13 year old is 5'7"/5'8"ish and he is in the process of growing fast. By summer I expect him to be pushing 5'10 and I'm guestimating a final height of 6'1" to 6'2". |
