I'd like to see a viable DA club in Metro United, gives my DD another choice for the future, but it appears from this thread that there is a communication issue at the team level from the coach and HC about trends from past results and future expectations outside of status quo so players & parents understand and aren't surprised. Maybe they are doing that, and kudos to them, but that's not the impression from this thread. Good luck to you in the Spring!

This is a DA question. Are clubs required to field a team at every age? My friend has a DD 2008 at GFR and she is claiming they are going to be doing 2008 DA next year. None of the girls parents want them to "play up". The club has told them they plan to field a 2008 team but may not be able to field a 2007 team. Are you allowed to not have a team at certain age groups? Maybe the few 2007 players can continue to play 2006?

I know the older age groups are required but I'm not sure if the younger ones are. U13 and U14 are not listed in standings so maybe they are "just for kicks" age groups. If this is the case MU would be wise to have a 2008 team and forego the 2007 one if they don't have the talent to support it. If their 2006 team is still 2006/2007 players who are getting killed and they force the 2008 girls to play 2007 than they will have a 2nd team who has yet to score a goal when March of 2011 rolls around. The 2008 GFR group has some talent but not all those girls are DA caliber at the 2008 level and none of them are ready to play DA against teams that have had an additional year of DA training and are at age.

A team that has played in the DA for a year already. Most of the U14 teams will have played DA games for a year already. Is this not true? Do Arlington and FCV currently have U13 DA teams and MU does not have one?

No 2008 team has had "an additional year of DA training" by your own definition.

Not the PP but I think what they were saying is that none of the GFR 08 girls are ready to play against 07 DA teams next year that have already been training together and playing in the DA for a year.

And based on several posts, GFR 08 girls don't want to play 07. They want to play with and against 08s.

Why would they need to? Metro will have no shortage of 07s. More likely it will be tough to just make the 08 team.

I hope so. With the partnerships and time to build, if they have done well with that, you are right. The reason people are asking is because this year, they couldn't field an 07 or an appropriate 06 team. I hope too they have no shortage of 06s so that that team becomes a competitive group that will be tough to just make the 06 team.

Problem is if you have seen the GFR 06 and 07 team play they do not have the talent for DA. The 08 team has the best chance for having a decent team without a million play ups. The 06 MU team is going to need atleast 5 GOOD players when the other move down to their own age group, and with their record and talent why would anyone go to that team?

We would all love to see your superstar DD play on a DA team comprised of only half at age kids, playing against teams fully at age, so we could make snarky remarks about her “talent.” Give it a rest already.

I agree. The situation was untenable from the start. The team never had a chance. But if the 06 players on that team have grown and developed, then just adding more 06s could make that a respectable team.

The PP talked about having a team with only half the players being at age, but I'm having an issue? LOL, ok! You can't have it both ways. Either having half the players at age explains the results and the team needs more at age players, or it's not, and the problem is a general lack of talent, which I don't believe, but to each his own.

Due to the constant trolling, these MU threads just become head shakers. It’s obvious to sane folks who have eyes that there are talented players on every MU team. It’s also obvious that several teams are simply in need of several more at age players to complete the team. A merger with BRYC, however unlikely, would do that.

There are one or two people here who need to lay down the axe and focus on their own DD clubs’ issues, because there’s not a club in this area that is without them.

It shouldn't matter if you are or are not affiliated. If the post has truth and/or satisfactory opinion based on analysis (even if you disagree) then nothing is wrong with that post other than you don't agree or don't like it. That should not be a cause for deletion.

It shouldn't matter if you are or are not affiliated. If the post has truth and/or satisfactory opinion based on analysis (even if you disagree) then nothing is wrong with that post other than you don't agree or don't like it. That should not be a cause for deletion.

Well, that is the rub, many of the posts are not truthful and are stated as such.

Attempts at trolling as well as thread hijacking will also be called out in any thread and removed.

Do we have to decide in absolutes? There are some special MU posters and some special Non-MU posters. Some truth to both types of posts. IMHO, worst offenders on the forum are name callers, telling people to get a life, sock puppets, etc. Let the naysayers say what they want, let performance speak. If the play ups are deserved then the public at large would essentially acknowledge its validity and should be able to see that for themselves. There would be recognition across the area from coaches, parents, and other players, that these are non-issues by doing similar things. So what I think we are seeing is something else and because its something else, it's disruptive. Disruptive doesn't necessarily imply wrong, but if messaging to the players and parents is lacking (and very different from other clubs actions), what should we expect?

If the individual's impact to team performance bears out the disruptions need, by all means, disrupt away. But as a club, be prepared to acknowledge and explain when it doesn't. If it's all about showcasing something specific, at least be honest to the players and parents.
