Why not? Maybe they are serious people waiting for the facts to be aired.

They didn’t wait for Al Franken to have due process and these charges against Kavanaugh are far more serious.

They had photographic evidence for Al Franken. For he said, she said, it seems like it takes dozen of accusers (see: Bill Cosby, Weinstein, etc.). There's one. If Kavanaugh is the horrible person that's being described, surely there are more.

Why doesn't the victim press charges?
Because she'd have to testify under oath?
Oops.

Kavanaugh can sue for defamation/libel. He should do that to clear his name, if she’s lying.

Why hasn’t he anmounced a lawsuit? Many victims of lies have won restitution this way.

Why won't she simply press charges? Apparently she still has that opportunity in Maryland. Why not take advantage of it?

Statue of limitations set by men.

No SOL in Maryland.

I have no idea what the SOL for rape is in MD. And I’m not your friend.

There is no SOL in MD.
I hope she presses charges. I believe something may have happened and she must press charges. It's that simple.

There is a SOL for sexual assault.

This is not attempted rape since Judge knocked him off.

Yes there is for sexual assault.

I’m unaware of the law that says that sexual assault isn’t credible unless there’s multiple assault victims in question.

There will be more..................although one of the victims signed the letter.

Good God. Google her testimony FFS.

She wouldn't be allowed to press any charges?

It's a sexual assault.

"Pressing charges" does what? Gets her money if she files a civil suit? Then she's "just doing it for money" which she probably doesn't need. Convinces a prosecutor to file criminal charges? Proof beyond a reasonable doubt is a tough standard, difficult even when the incident is recent, and she's probably not looking for him to go to jail.

There was a guy in high school who chased me around the room with his dick hanging out. I thought it was gross and got the hell out of the house. I'd never sue him or look for him to be prosecuted. But if he was looking for confirmation to the Supreme Court, I'd speak up. (No real risk - last I heard, he was an unemployed drunk.)

Not that you give a shit about rational reasons for not pressing charges. More likely it's a disingenuous effort to insinuate that she's dishonest if she doesn't file a civil suit or ask for criminal charges. The more straight forward thing is to say that you don't believe her because her allegations are negative for your political tribe.

She had also been drinking, so that could certainly cloud her memory of events.

This just doesn’t “smell” right.

And, the fact that she is a college professor (in CA, no less) lends it even less credibility.

She had one beer. Kavanaugh and Judge were the ones who were drunk.

+1 Women don’t come forward because there’s a nasty subset of society who blames the victim no matter what the facts. Even worse in this case with all the misogynistic Trump supporters who think it’s fine to grab a woman by her pussy.

The PP was talking about the reaction Murkowski and Collins had to Franken, and why that should apply to Kavanaugh as well. The comment had nothing to do with the law.
