DC Public and Public Charter Schools

if he were not aa, he would be accused of racism and on his way back to california by now.
that aside, none of his actions in this situation make sense. *stick out the year *buy/rent ib for your preferred school. *if kid must switch, go for an application school where admission has nothing to do with address. either he is really dumb, cant think two steps ahead or just thinks he can do whatever he wants. all disqualify him for the job. so long mr wilson. |
|
he didn't send kids to any of the IB schools for his address.
wtf is that about?? |
|
Pretty arrogant to think I'm going to live where I want and my kids will go to school where ever I want.
How did his daughter even get to Duke Ellington or Wilson from Langley neighborhood? It is not easy. I know he has a DC issued driver and SUV. I wonder if that is how she went to school and back. |
| It’s outrageous that he is keeping his job and Niles got fired. WTF. |
It's really common EOTP. The high school stuff is not ok, but there is nothing implausible about getting into JO Wilson OOB. Unless both kids had truly godawful lottery numbers, it would be easy to get in. |

The optics of these events are just really bad: the message is, "all DCPS high schools except one are too horrible for the Chancellor's child to attend." Of course, that message is probably very true, but DCPS has been adept at dodging the truth for a long time. The political problem being that the Chancellor says nice things about the schools, and how many schools are wonderful for the kids but in truth, he would never send his kid there.
The DC Council has been complicit, too. If any one of them would highlight the truth of DCPS's condition -- rather than Grosso pointing a finger at the DC Auditor for being "biased" -- it might be a means to get some kind of emergency changes to the system. |
| Ugh the whole thing is terrible. He should resign. How can anyone trust his judgement now? But I do feel bad for the daughter. |
| Wait, where are all the "boundary cheating isn't wrong" assholes defending this guy? It's okay for them to do it, but they don't want the chancellor to? Yeah, no, because it's ALWAYS wrong and it's ALWAYS stealing, in every single instance. |
|
I do not like the Chancellor but you have to hand it to him to email his apology late Friday afternoon right before a long weekend.
Perfect timing for him in so many ways. Now he can just lie low for a few days and hope that it will all blow over in a few days. I have no sympathy for Jenny Niles. Such a dumb and corrupt move. What was she thinking? |
nyope. as someone who will probably have to give up the city she loves and desperately wants to raise her children in because she can't afford to move in-bounds to wilson, I say f him. he's gone. |
Your comment about what happens EOTP is spot on but you are not denying the state of DC schools EOTP. Even though he probably didn’t need to cheat to get JO Wilson it still puts DCPS in position of indirectly acknowledging that none of the chancellors sending schools are desired. Your point about it being plausible to get into JO does bring up the interesting question of whether he even followed the process there or just placed in. |
Maybe the same way Charter parents or EOTR parents do it everyday. |
|
if he wanted jo wilson why didnt he move ib for jo wilson?
this guy is just dumb. he had time to realize the value of moving ib to a neighborhood where his younger kids could walk to school. the more i think about all this the dumber he seems. it does really point out the state of our schools though. will there be a spin on that to save his ass? |
| I remember a public meeting with him last year. We we talking about the lack of desirable HS options in our neighborhood. We are IB for Cardozo. His response: send your kids their and work with me to build the school you want. Guess that doesn’t apply to Dunbar. |
