You are just as dumb as he is.

Immigration policies should not be based on how nice the countries the immigrants come from are. That is irrelevant.

You're not very bright. Wealthy immigrants are much better than poor immigrants. That's life. And 99.9% of the immigrants from Haiti and Africa will be poor. That is reality.

And far too many of them don’t share western values either and come from backwards cultures that no first world country in its right mind would want to encourage.

Likewise, NPR notes that Port Au Prince has no sewer system!

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2013/01/29/150501695/port-au-prince-a-city-of-millions-with-no-sewer-system

The cumulative sewage of 3 million people flows through open ditches. It mixes with ubiquitous piles of garbage. Each night, an all-but-invisible army of workers called bayakou descend into man-sized holes with buckets to remove human waste from septic pits and latrines, then dump it into the canals that cut through the city. This is why they have issues with Cholera.

Were you aware that just before the article you posted Haiti was hit with one of the deadliest earthquakes in history and it still has not recovered?

Haiti's issues with garbage and sewage existed prior to the earthquake.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3795096/

That article discusses that it was in the 1980's that Haiti decided to take on its sewage problem, but violence prevented using foreign funding to build the infrastructure. It wasn't until 2009 that a plan was signed into law to build out the system with $300 million in foreign aid.

Their sewage issues have NOTHING to do with the earthquake, but clearly it exacerbated it.

Oh wow you can trot out some sympathetic immigrant! Liberals refuse to engage on policy. It’s all feelings. Just show a picture of a hardworking, crying immigrant who everyone will sympathize with and ignore the crime rate and welfare dependency that so many others of them bring with them, because they are future democrats after all.

DP... did you work hard like that guy and rise above his poor background? Did you serve your country? This guy is literally the epitome of the American dream and the opposite of everything Trump -- giving his life to his adopted country and working hard to get out of poverty. So many Americans, white, black, etc... have done this in the past, and all you can say about him is "a sympathetic immigrant"? I don't have sympathy for him. I have admiration and gratitude for him and am in awe of him, but not for Trump.

Agreed. I don't have "sympathy" for people who bust their ass to make a better life for themselves. This guy doesn't want Republicans' sympathy; he wants their respect and dignity.

Is that too much to ask for, Republicans?

Except that’s not what you’re asking for. You’re asking for, or rather demanding, that millions upon millions of illegal immigrants who broke the law be given amnesty, and that our immigration policy Remain one based on chain migration from third world countries and not on the type of merit that the young man in the photo clearly has.

Except the man in the picture - that would be 2nd Lt. Alix Schoelcher Idrache to you is actually a “chain migrant.” He came to join his father.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2016/05/25/the-story-behind-the-american-dream-photo-at-west-point-that-went-viral/?utm_term=.61a2e575a6ef

So what? You don’t really want to compare the worst chain migrants who have been arrested on terrorism charges and heinous criminal acts to see how they stack up against all of those that are West Point grads do you? Because guess how that will turn out. The reality is that with chain migration we don’t get the best and brightest regularly.

Boom! The beat downs keep coming. Imagine a chain migrant meriting a free four years of US education - that must piss off the nativists.

Interesting that you say that because I know dozens of Eritrean immigrants (my SIL is Eritrean) - every last one of them has fully embraced "Western" values. Well, there are some that have not - but they are elderly.

How easily people forget history. For those who don't know, Galway is a port city in Ireland.
