I love that this thread still exists and that OP's baby and kitty are still so sweet!

I am sooooo not a cat person but I love these pics.

We have 2 dogs that are very attached to our DD and she is to them. I know at least one of them will be on her bed when she eventually comes out of the crib.

Kids' friendship with Dog was forged under their high chair.

Cats attentively joined every middle of the night, when I was up, feeding, consoling, checking. One cat --- the more "aloof" one, was always there, making sure we took care of business. The other one made himself comfortable on their beds, leading to squabbles later on, as to which bed should he sleep on.

Surely someone on this thread mentioned the allergy protection effect that growing up with a close-by pet has on children?

The pictures are so beautiful.

Your cat thinks the baby belongs to it. I've had both male and female cats love my kids like that. It's so special.

So you have to change the sheets more often but hey, you can't break up the love.

This. So much this. You're a wise person.

I think I'd allow it, if you have one of those monitors where you can see your baby. My cat likes to come get on my toddler's bed, and she freaks out and wants him to leave, but he purrs and is nice so I try to get her to let him stay. Also, I think kids who grow up with pets have better immunity. The purring seems to be comforting so why not? As long as your cat is well fed and not waiting for you to leave to eat your baby, it's probably fine.
