I would have no problem with this! Truly, your baby is old enough. A live cat will absolutely move and since the way the cat sleeps isn't ON the baby then there isn't a weight issue. (not all cats like to be on people - we have 1 who does and 2 others who sleep next but never on us). This is the way one of our cats sleeps with my husband - right next to the face!

Such an old thread. My mom always let the cat sleep in my crib with me. She said she thought it was safer because I would remember to breathe if I was with another living creature. It was the 70s.

OP here. Baby went missing in 2017. We were all devastated. We searched and searched, but given the rural area we are in it is very likely that he was taken by a predator. I have added one video from his last months with us. He was seriously the best kitty one could imagine. I’m sorry I don’t have better news.

Awww, thanks for the update, OP. This was one of my favorite threads ever. I'm sorry to hear about Baby. I love that he played such a sweet, gentle role in your daughter's childhood.
