War with Iran Part II

Arrogance, ignorance, stupidity, macho bravado... what has happened was predicted by everyone. They just chose not to listen. Who were the ones pushing this from within the administration?

Trump’s decision to declare war on Iran will go down as one of the most epic failures in international relations history. This will be used as a study in hubris and stupidity.

I’m all for it. As long as Bibi is in control, we have to cut off Israel.

If you look at today's war footage from Beirut, it is very clear Israel is continuing with their mayhem. A lot of innocent people died today. But markets are up, so whatever. Maybe I was a little innocent before, but it is shocking how much power Israel has over the US. It's a midget county with no strategic relevance whatsoever, and we are spending billions and billions being their hired help and fighting their dumb wars. But I think Israel has sensed that both Democrats and Republicans have had enough of their crap, so they are going all in while a boomer tool like Trump is still in power. There will be no peace until a new administration cuts them off from all the weapons we send them. Israelis will continue to send it until that happens.

That "midget" country punches *way* above its weight and provides the U.S. with crucial intelligence and power in a complicated region. You can dislike its current government, and even Jews in general if you lean that way, but let's not pretend that nation is irrelevant.

Israel is not strategically relevant. It's not the Cold War era. Israel has an advanced economy and are useful in tech. But so is Romania and a lot of other countries. Israel has no oil. No Rare Earths. It's not a source of grain like Ukraine is. It doesn't control any shipping routes like Iran, and Panama and Egypt and Malaysia. It doesn't have an important semi-conductor facility like Taiwan does. Israel is completely irrelevant in 2026. And so asking why are we spending billions and billions and supporting Israel's belligerence is a very relevant question.

I'm a DP, but the PP is correct that Israel has cutting-edge technology and intelligence that it shares with the U.S. You can hate the country as much as you want, but there's no denying they're a HUGE player in the intelligence and tech community.

Just stop. It is the reverse. The US allows Israel access to our resources including technology and intelligence. Everything the Israelis do is a direct result of research in the US or from US signals intelligence. The US tech sector is worth $3 trillion. Israel tech sector worth is $100 billion but a lot of that is just US companies with satellite campuses.

Israel contributes nothing to the US.

I think this war exposed Iran , it uses terror and closes off oil supplies . The world should not stand for it. Imagine if other countries shot missiles and bombs and closed down international waterways. No one should tolerate this from any country let alone a terrorist nation of Iran .

Well, they were being bombed by 2 different countries. If America was Iran, why would we not use the tools at our disposal to get the bombing to stop? We are never going to achieve peace if we can’t understand any side but our own.

As someone who works within the IC, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Last evening it was clear to me that Trump agreed to use Iran’s 10 pt plan as the basis for talks (with a 2 week ceasefire in the meantime).

It was also clear that the 10-pt plan included a ceasefire on “all fronts” (which clearly meant Lebanon)

And it was clear that Iran would allow ships passage through the Strait and since it was Iran “allowing” they were in control of the strait.

And it was clear Israel was continuing to bomb Lebanon.

And I was just watching CNN and reading the NYT app.

So why on earth are we seeing headlines today about “confusion”?

This administration is so inept and our media. Is complicit in enabling.

Meanwhile, people are dying. 250+ in Beirut plus thousands injured. How is this different than 10/7? The word “terrorist” has no meaning for me now that too many different groups/countries are killers.

Do you remember how Netanyahu strode into DC and defied President Obama when JCPOA was going on and spoke to Congress.

Netanyahu received multiple standing ovations. Do my fellow Americans really have such short memories?!

Trump failed so hard even the babylon bee is making fun of him.

Yeah, because we shut off their oil supply by bombing their power plants and oil refineries dummy. It’s a simple concept a 5 year old can understand.
