If it makes you happy to think that. Go for it. |
No idea, I think they have to determine exactly how they're going to set it up programmatically first between magnet, neighborhood school, some hybrid combo, or whatever other option before they start drawing maps. Probably couldn't start that work in earnest until the sale went through. Not sure how that timeline will align with the countywide boundary review either. |
I think there is a policy/process about setting boundaries for a new school. I would assume the priority is to relieve overcrowded schools, which, in this case would be Chantilly and Westfield. I would also think there would be some movement to get area kids out of Oakton as it is a very long way and there will be new construction in that area. |
Westfield is not overcrowded. |
The school is at 2700 plus and the rising classes are all very large. There is also a lot of new construction in the Westfield area. It needs relief, too. Some of the support areas (cafeteria, gym, etc) are not that large. |
The freshman class at Westfield last fall was about the same size as other classes. It’s big by design and has extra capacity. Some of you don’t want to send your kids there, but if all these Westfield kids get moved to KAA they’ll have to move Centreville kids there. |
Source? |
I guess now we know why they are in no hurry to put out any maps, lol. |
no source needed. if they move 3 schools out of westfield. and now there isn’t as much money for centreville expansion those kids will be moved into westfield |
So, Westfield is already crowded. They can move one school from Centreville and there is lots of new construction in Westfield area. It will be fine. They can move kids from Centreville who are adjacent to Westfield kids instead of having a giant island on the other side of 50 and 28. They can still renovate Centreville--but won't need the expansion to 3000. |
DP. They won't pull three schools out of Westfield and then just add one from Centreville. Whether it's adding more from Centreville and more from Chantilly, they will add more back to Westfield than one school. They know many people don't want to move to Westfield so they'll delay any plans for as long as possible. Of course, they should indicate in the next CIP that the Centreville expansion is being scaled back, but they are so disorganized that they might not even address that. |
It is 2 and a half schools out of Westfield. Floris is split with South Lakes. Agree they may add some of the Wegman's area to Westfield. They should have already done that. But, again, there is much new construction by Westfield. Check out near Costco and the DMV--along with the Stonecroft area. |
Or they're waiting until Monday because the Title IX email came out on Friday and they tend not to send out two emails about two different things on the same day. ![]() |
The FCPS media department posted three different items on Friday, so that's probably not the issue. But if you're one of Reid's flunkies, maybe you can pull together an email this week (or not). |
I don't work for FCPS but I do live in the area that is going to be served by this high school. I think mommies like you that seem to hate our school system so much really should move. You have plenty of options. I hear great thinks about Prince Wiliiam and Loudon. Maybe their values are more similar to yours, too. You would be happier there. Or maybe you're just the type of person who has nothing better to do than complain, complain, complain about everything. Do you have any friends? I'm guessing no. |
