Someone on fairfacts matters matter shared it was very concerning. Still waiting for details.

They probably have to wait until FCPS posts the meeting notes/info so they don’t break the NDA. Sadly.

Taking way too long. It’s going to another half-baked idea from her.

At this point it's just one misstep after another on the part of Michelle Reid, FCPS staff, and Thru Consulting. You'd think that the School Board would step in and try and salvage this debacle, but I guess they're betting that not too many people are paying attention in August.

I think they’re waiting to do a Friday news dump on this meeting. Expect it to post Friday afternoon after 5 pm.

The meeting must have been really bad.

Coincidentally, that’s when we’re supposed to get our teacher assignments for ES.

Well I'm glad this is finally coming up, but shouldn't this have been considered near the beginning?

Glad that thru is looking at transfers and that they realized limiting transfers would solve a lot of their capacity issues. Ie, they can cancel the boundary study.

Ha! They established a new pre-k classroom at Keene mill last year for example, taking up a classroom etc and now they are lamenting that it is over capacity….. so why did you take up another space last year?

I mean they do limit transfers…. Lotteries, open spaces etc, but they STILL are doing things like the above.

Maybe they will get a clue with this one?

Precisely this. They were told many months ago that transfers should have considered before floating any boundary change proposals, and they still went ahead and did things in a completely ass-backwards manner.

I wonder why they think it's notable that Region 5 has a lot of kids transferring outside the region when they stuck Marshall in Region 5 along with Chantilly, Fairfax, Westfield, and Woodson.

You could immediately fix the MS transfer situation by either instituting AAP at all MS so there is no longer a need for MS AAP centers, or by ending the MS AAP program and putting in more sections of honors courses instead. That immediately fixes the situation at Carson, LB Middle, and Rocky Run.

Sorry, but the data in this presentation is crap.

It has no value being lumped all in one general number, from Kinder through 12th grade.

At a minimum, the data should have been separated between elementary, middle school and high school.

Almost all of the high school transfers are due to people escaping bad schools using the AP/IB loophole.

That would be the number one transfer reason at high schools, followed by foreign language transfers.

Putting the 3 levels all together completely hides the biggest elephant in the room, which is the failure of IB.

People are unhappy about elementary schools getting rezoned, but REALLY furious about high schools getting rezoned.

The high school data needs to be isolated in order to provide any value whatsoever

It also fixes Key/Lewis and crowding at Lake Braddock.
