Not just another one of their GA clubs, but one of their best known and champions league clubs. The other few top clubs GA needs to hold onto, like Top Hat and Nationals, would see this and move to ECNL

Perhaps this is exactly why GA might admit VRSC despite it not having a track record—if they don’t give CC a GA platform that current FCV GA players can migrate to, those players are going to move to the local ECNL clubs and leave the GA system altogether. FCV GA players are not going to take a flyer on all new coaches and no clear path to field space at FCV. If GA wants to keep that champions league club within the fold, supporting VRSC might be their only path.

Well, clubs change leadership and coaches all the time. If CC were in charge at Revolution, that would be one thing because he obviously knows what he’s doing. But he’s not. And his boss, who can barely spell GA and has nothing more than a grassroots coaching license, has an ego that rivals any coach in the DMV. Do you trust that a guy like that is going to remain completely uninvolved with a possible GA program? I’m not sure the decision for FCV GA families will be an easy one either way in that regard.

But field space, well, that definitely would seem to be a big problem. TSJ had to have realized that this day was coming sooner or later and if they didn’t, then that’s really their own fault. Nobody in or around Loudoun County wants to drive to Springfield. But what are the other options? I heard that they had looked into a couple of private facilities but it sounds like those options didn’t work out. I hear that they’re having town hall meetings with parents/players this week so it will be interesting to see what comes out of those. But if their only field space really is in Springfield, then that probably makes the decision to look elsewhere easier for a lot of families.

They don't have enough field space in Springfield. I'm there for swim practice on weeknights and those fields are almost always in use

In our town hall meeting last week obviously fields were a hot topic. We were told field contracts for the spring season were still in place and not an issue. For the fall, they assured us fields would be in loudoun and there would be something to announce shortly. Parents are rightly skeptical. They better announce something soon because tryouts are coming…

As a current FCV parent, I'm not taking a chance even on an announcement. They made a field announcement last year prior to the 23/24 season that they had a field agreement in place on the western side of Fairfax that panned out to nothing. All customers to FCV should be on the 'show me' idea rather than the 'tell me' one. For years they have had verbal promises and perhaps that is the reason why the staff ultimately left, unfulfilled promises of things. Prioritizing other areas of their business rather than this small portion of it. Why should any families believe they're going to invest in a small area of their business when they're even closing their gym location in Reston.

I agree with this. I’ll believe fields are secured for the spring only when our schedule is updated to show those practices. That better happen soon since no training is on the calendar yet after Feb 15.

I’ll give the club a little longer on fields for next year. It’s an unfair ask almost since no clubs announce fall field allocations until let summer. FCV has to say as much as they can though by March 1. Otherwise they are in a world of trouble with current families.

FCV is a little different. Because they are for profit, they are last in line for anything owned by Loudon county or LCPS. Without access to vrsc's fields, they don't really have many options. As a parent, I'd want to at least know the plan

On the girls side, 2012 year group down at FCV is liquidating. Like, player cards in hand and moving.

Arguing about GA and ECNL doesn’t really matter - the bread and butter are kids that don’t want to play with sherms in rec leagues but want to play in a regional sport. Parents want close and secure field space, trustworthy and capable coaches, and a vision bigger than getting kids half scholarships at William and Mary. Loco peeps can pay for college.

STJ just pissed away almost $800k in recurring revenue that they really didn’t do anything for. Didn’t help get fields, coaches, players, or rent any actual space at the STJ facility. I assume CC, Bobby, and others saw the uselessness of playing under a barnacle.

The real knife is promoting AB to any sort of leadership position. Dude lost all the Barca boys that were gifted to FCV, is almost blacklisted at Loudoun PRCS, and is widely known as an ultra-right wing Loco reply guy on Facebook (of course, with FCV right below his name for everyone to see).

Everyone doesn’t like NE at VRSC, but he has built an environment that kids and parents have fun at. I know you nerds lose sight of being normal people and live through your kids travel soccer team, but that’s what’s desired.

Don't put it past them to make a sleazy deal with Sterling Soccer club (ala the one with Villarreal) in order to get access to the Hencken Fields. And perhaps that would put them far enough away to maybe pave the way for VRSC into the GA.

Interesting take. Is this speculation or are conversations happening?

Totally agree with all of this.

That's speculation. The answer provided via FCV in regards to plans on more field space beyond what is currently allocated to them via Loudoun Parks and Rec is that it would be an agreement with a private institution somewhere in Ashburn with the ability to expand and add more fields.

I don't know Ashburn very well but the one place that comes to mind is Virginia Academy and I do not the field there currently is a turf field.

Player cards in hand and moving = now. They've asked for formal release and are now in the wind.
