What are you talking about being together til one of them dies. What if they live into their 90s? You sounds as if it’s likely one of them will die next year. |
What if they do? They're both in their seventies, so there's a reasonable possibility that a relationship lasting a few years will end when one dies. "Awhile" doesn't have an exact time frame. I was thinking a handful of years when I wrote it. Is it really controversial to suggest that a 72 year old man is going to die sooner rather than later? |
His life expectancy (just based on age) is 13.7 years. |
A friend of mine was a producer on one of the early "The Bachelor" copycat shows. He tells me this could very well be the influence of the producers. I said I think it seems crazy that a guy like Gerry could be manipulated into saying I love you to Faith and Leslie and not Theresa as some kind of drama-building or story red herring or something, and he said to me that unless you are the type to be malleable by producers, you don't don't picked for the show. Not that Gerry is acting, I think he was sincere when he said it to Leslie and Faith, but that doesn't mean he didn't hold it those particular words back from Theresa upon the suggestion of a producer trying to force a storyline. And it is a storyline -- the entire interview with each woman arriving back at the mansion for the rose ceremony was all about whether or not Gerry said "I love you." |
He was so glowy with Faith and Leslie but not Theresa. I just can't imagine the editing is manipulated that much. I also think his "I love you" was far more emotional with Leslie than with Faith or that weird Theresa voiceover. He seems sincerely fond of Theresa but not infatuated with her in the same way as the other two. And as much as he is into Faith, he is most into Leslie.
I think the editing is manipulated so that everyone is surprised when Theresa rather than Faith makes the final 2, for all the reasons discussed. But I do think it's Leslie in the end. Unless something big changes in the overnights, he likes Theresa with his head but feels the butterflies and love for Leslie. |
I also think it's Leslie. |
well -- you and the PP are falling hook, line, and sinker for what the producers want you to think! Congrats! Whoever appears to be the most liked by Gerry -- is exactly who WON'T be winning. The producers know who wins before they put together the clips that make up an episode. Do you think they are going to lead you all the way through the season with the winner being the obvious one at the end? NO! If the producers are making it seem like X or Y, then you know it's going to be Z in the end. |
Something nice. I thought all three families were sweet, and unlikely to cause any trouble in the relationship. |
No one will be surprised when he eliminates Faith next. Their relationship is a non starter. The cliffhanger is just about Gerry having trouble letting Faith go because he really likes her. As for Theresa and Leslie, I believe that his pick was Leslie at this point in the filming. But I believe that he will choose Theresa in the end. He has said that the fantasy suite night was a watershed. He also needs to bring the two women home to meet his family, and he's the kind of guy who will take his daughters' thoughts into account. When it comes down to actually choosing one, he'll realize that it won't work long term with Leslie, much as he might be crazy about her. I think it's the best outcome for Leslie as well, and I do hope that she'll find a decent man who loves her and makes her feel safe. I just think he's more likely to be a divorce in his early sixties with a bit more colorful life experience. |
POSSIBLE SPOILER
Apparently there are a couple of items online suggesting Leslie is the winner. I can’t make out what they’re talking about here though. Something also about the Costa Rica timeline, that she flew home after Theresa. https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/gerry-leslie-together-the-golden-bachelor-spoilers-clues |
I just read the order of hometown filming: Faith, Leslie, then Theresa. Maybe the producers are amazing with misleading editing, but he just didn’t seem that into Theresa in the hometown. Massive difference in body language and expression of level of interest to the family compared to Faith and Leslie. I understand she’s a rational pick for the final two, just seems like he is far more physically attracted to Leslie, and that she’s a better fit for the kind of lifestyle he seems to want (pickleballing, adventures etc). |
Initially I thought Gerry and Leslie living reasonably close would be a big plus, but it is an 8 hour drive. Still, she seems close to her family but more independent and not as enmeshed as Theresa. Who does live even farther away. I’ll be very curious to see how the convos go on the overnights. |
I could see Gerry’s daughters and granddaughters finding Leslie really fun and a potential good friend but envisioning Theresa as more of a mother figure. I’ll be very interested to see how that dynamic plays out. |
As the lead of this show, you are required to put out a lot of energy to seem interesting and active... but I'm not sure if 72-yr-old Gerry is REALLY interested in being a go, go, go person, or if he's fulfilling the obligation to appear that way, while in real life, he simply wants to play pickleball, hang out with friend, and enjoy the lake life... know what I mean.
If Gerry is, at heart, at a time in life where he wants to keep it simple, then Faith and Leslie are not going to be the right "speed" for him. Theresa might be more on that speed level. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with Faith, or Leslie or Theresa or Gerry. It's just a matter of finding someone who wants to live life at the same pace as you. |
Did anybody notice/think about the location where they filmed with Leslie's family for the hometown? It was some kind of restaurant or catering or commercial space, right? At Faith's and at Theresa's they were literally visiting their homes, or at least a home (I think at Theresa's they were filming at her kid's house? And at Faith's it was her ranch?)
Was there no suitable house for filming with Leslie in Minneapolis? What is that about? I can't imagine that loft place, whatever it was, being what the producers would prefer -- hometown is about seeing how they live, and under the circumstances we didn't see much of that with regard to Leslie. |
