Honestly, PP, you are the only one surprised by Pence. |
She’s a congresswoman and has been one for decades. It’s my opinion she knew what she said and meant it, and I find that surprising and sad. |
She very well could have just blown the case for NY. |
No she didn’t. |
She just told every crazy MAGA out there that this is political hit job, and that America is no better than Russia. You don’t think that will be exploited by the defense and create a huge amount of public pressure? It was just so stupid on her part. |
Facts and law = political hit job? |
How do you figure? She didn’t comment on his guilt or innocence. The jury, if it gets that far, will be instructed on the rights of the defendant. |
As I stated, she just told the American people that he has to prove his innocence. If she was an average American citizen, it wouldn’t matter much. But she’s a former Speaker of the House and a sitting Congresswoman, who is known to have extreme animosity towards Trump. To state to MAGA that he is guilty until proven innocent is the height of idiocy. Carlson will lead with this. And while the media states that Chansley’s release was not related to the released footage, it’s clear to MAGA you can’t call Chansley the face of the insurrection, etc. and then suddenly switch to he’s a great guy who deserves early release. The judge was really clear about calling Chansley a liar during sentencing, i.e. there was nothing to back up his claim that he escorted by Capitol police, etc. That’s why he got the four year sentence in the first place. |
Facts and law in this country is that the burden of proving guilt falls on the prosecution. We are innocent until proven guilty. She didn’t state facts or law. |
I think it was very calculated that the “boring” state tax fraud case was the one that Trump was indicted for. He’s been indicted for actions he took as a private citizen - not a president and not a former president. Biden’s DOJ is not involved at all. A grand jury in the state of New York decided to indict based on the evidence before them.
This is an action state grand juries across the country take on a regular routine basis. If anything, this signals the strength of our democracy and the rule of law. |
I don’t believe this to be true. I think, unfortunately, this was the reverse of democracy, i.e. give me the man, and I’ll find you the crime. It’s not surprising to me at all, given this DA has let a lot of violent criminals essentially free to hurt others again. |
Furthermore, this reminds me a lot of the Martha Stewart case. She was jailed for something politicians in Congress do on a regular basis. |
He would never perform such a public service for us. |

process question:
I told my husband that Trump would never be arrested. Does being indicted mean being arrested? Does showing up for arraignment next week mean he's arrested or am I right and there's not arrest here? |
