I'm thinking maybe this door was actually kicked in after the crime when Wint was leaving the scene since the murdered housekeeper's husband didn't apparently see any broken windows/doors or anything amiss when he went looking for her Thurs morning and also since the killer likely wouldn't want to have such a visible sign of something being wrong present for 20 hours or however long they were in the house. Maybe he kicked in the door on his way out to make it look like a forced entry.

Doors were kicked in..not out..boot print was on the outside..that is how they got in..I guess the doors would be in the back of the home? Question what happen to their Dog(s) Wish DC would bring back the chair..this has to be one of the worst if not the worst murder case in the history of the USA

no, not even in dc. how many people with child (though perhaps low income) held in homes and terrorized and killed by intruder in last decade in dc. More than one. perhaps the motive was different. perhaps the imagined payout smaller. This one seems especially egregious because the family was living a charmed, ideal life. But that doesn't make their deaths somehow worse than other s who have died like they died.

I do wish there was the death penalty (though I am against it) as a bargaining took to make the guy talk. But not because this crime is worse than the many others like it because the family is richer and more favored by fate and life circumstance. A life is a life. A night of terror is a night of terror.

The pp wasn't saying the doors were kicked out...they were saying it could have been kicked in when they were leaving to stage it as a forced entry/confuse investigators. Even if the doors that were kicked in were in the back of the home, the housekeeper's husband might have seen that when he went looking for her as reports stated he knocked on the front door and then went around to the back. I also agree with the pp saying it was staged this way for some reason because I doubt even these callous killers would want to leave signs of a break-in easily visible on the outside of the house for 20+hours while they held the S family and housekeeper hostage. THat is pretty risky. That said, I don't know which door was apparently broken into and maybe it was not a door that anyone would see...

I agree that safe could be holding those kinds of things - and that a safe is the right place for them. It's easy for tempers to flare and for comments to be misinterpreted in any kind of forum, and especially in this one when we're all here because we care, and feel frustrated, confused, annoyed, sad, and so on. Saddest thing is, though, that nothing will bring any of these people back.

I doubt the death penalty would be much of a bargaining tool with a monster like Wint or with most heartless killers...I really doubt most people capable of torturing and murdering people, esp. children, would really care that much about facing the death penalty, especially since most of the time when the death penalty is used it takes years and years and tons of appeals for it to be carried out. It is not an effective method of bargaining, in cases like this, IMO.

Yeah, I'm not saying they were kicked from the outside. I'm saying the killer(s) could have gained entry another way and then when they were leaving, kicked the doors in from the outside to make it appear like a forced entry.

Woops it's supposed to say I'm not saying they were kicked from the inside.

I'm thinking the killer(s) ran out the front of the home..or to the garage to get to the porsche parked on the street..maybe there were two inside one hiding as the driver "clean cut" sped away There has to be cameras other cameras from the neighboring homes and streets. Police and only release so much information..where is that loud mouth lawyer Ficker now?? And why does he heckle NBA games???

No I mean one of the worst in the history of the USA..because not only were they kidnapped beaten stabbed robbed tortured and murdered But the son was burned to death stabbed and tortured..no other case has all of these crimes..not Amityville Defoe murders..not Manson murders and Manson murders was the top worst murder case of the USA..they were killed because they were rich and maybe their race..if they were poor this would not have happened. I feel so bad for this family..and the daughters..such a beautiful family gone..over hate jealously and greed

I disagree. The threat of the death penalty is what got the Green River Killer (most prolific serial killer in US history) to talk and reveal where additional victims where, and help provide closure to the family. He's now rotting in prison. It's the only reason I support the death penalty.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/05/green.river.killings/

Ridgway pleaded guilty to 48 counts of aggravated murder and agreed to provide information to help locate remains lost for nearly two decades in exchange for prosecutors agreeing not to seek the death penalty.

The Audi and Range Rover were parked in the driveway outside the garage.
Remember that the Porsche was last seen parked on the street at 10:30.
Note that Jordan Wallace delivered the $40,000 about 10:30
It's not likely that Wallace was driving the Porsche or it would have been reported to police by other AIW employees when he picked up the money.
If Wallace took the Porsche from the house he would have left his own car behind at the scene.
The fire was reported at 1:15
The Porsche was seen at 1:30 driving erratically on New York Avenue by a man in green vest "with short, well-groomed hair"
It's possible an accomplice departed in the Porsche even before Wint committed the brutal slayings.

That seems plausible. I also wonder if Wint was under the influence of some type of drug during the time of the murders?

Your reasoning makes sense. You "looked" beyond the obvious. If that is true then it might mean that they planned to be there overnight.
I did not think that the HK's husband ever got to actually go to the back door b/c SS called him immediately after he knocked on the front door. If he did go to the back door that would be a question to ask. LE probably asked him those questions about what he noticed.
