ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Shucks. This thread is going to start fading out now. The BY crazies had 48 hours of hope and we got 50 pages of gloating and justification for BY wisdom while we all snickered in the corner.

I'll be the first to admit...my daughter now has a major advantage. She's bigger and faster than your kid and has been playing a grade up since she was in preschool. I won't gaslight you. RAE matter alot and in 5 years Q1 and Q2 kids won't up more than 25% of elite rosters. What's coming isn't fair at all. Someone should leak another facebook email to the BY's through the holidays.

US Club Soccer will change to school year, everyone is still waiting to see if they will make this change in the Fall of 25' or follow US Soccer rec's that no one [b]should start till Fall of 26'.

Can US Club Soccer decide to go SY in 25/26? I thought US Soccer said no change for 25/26 and then in 26/27 leagues can change to what they see fit based on guidelines from US Soccer. What about US Soccer’s release leads you to think ECNL will do something next season?

They have said repeatedly that they can do this unilaterally but prefer not too and they haven't made any kind of statement on the matter yet. If they wait till the Fall of 26' they will have two cycles of trapped players. If they switch in the fall of next year, they can essentially cover the trapped player from this season because they will be repeating the age group. I am not saying the will do it...but there are reasons to implement this asap. And there are ways to get around the mandate, if they will just apply them for the coming season. Spring is probably a long shot, considering that US Soccer won't release the full path forward until March. We will see how good they are at negotiating.

I hope ECNL can make the trapped players play "down" permanently while waiting for the 26/27.

But isn’t that the change planned for 26-27 so what would they be waiting for in 26-27 if they’re doing it already?

There is no "Planned Change" as they haven't planned or approved anything. They discuss these things from time to time and this has taken a life of its own. If you're getting your information from this, or any other forum, be prepared to be mislead and misinformed.

Where are you getting your information from? Facebook? lol.

This forum had it nailed down 300 pages ago. The vote is coming. Its gonna pass. ECNL is going to move quick. Every other league is going to slow play through 2026. It was fun to watch facebook offer a glimmer of hope and the preaching and gloating that went with it but this has been the only source Ive been watching and it hasn't been wrong yet.

Ecnl will not make changes ahead of schedule. US soccer clearly states it: No registration systems will change until 26/27. US soccer will provide guidance March 2025. Give it a rest for now. Every scenario is just speculation.

Oh so now people on anonymous board can't speculate as to what US Club will do? And the statement is no registration SHOULD change until 26/27. You don't have to be a legal scholar to see that this is recommendation not a mandate. Again, US Club may play nice, but they certainly don't have to.

Aren't the 2010 Q4's playing U15 now with other 2010's?

Wouldn't playing with 2011's next year have them playing down?

So you are saying they have been playing up the last 8 years. Got it.

Funny I never hear Q1 to Q3 parents lament that Q4s have been playing up all this time.

All we hear is that these lackluster Q4s now get to play down.

My August 2011 DS has been playing with his class (8th grade now) on his entire soccer journey. These changes (8/1 cutoff) would mean he'd be playing with the 7th grade class instead of his actual class. Hence he would be "playing down". Now, my DS is good enough to do so, so it's not going to be an issue for him. Others won't be so lucky.

Unless the cutoff is 9/1.

Just like DPL referencing the same document. It's legit, however I find it VERY interesting that the first leaks only included that one statement about it not happening in 2025 while neglecting the rest of it. Talk about pushing an agenda.

Everyone that said that the WSSL leak was suspect is vindicated now.

The most important part of the USSF’s statement is the “flexibility” for 26/27. There were a series of errors I hope that US soccer addresses
- a USSF representative may have given either the USYS or Michigan some information on only 25/26
- Michigan decided to release what is essentially a rumor to its leagues
- the WSSL then chose to take that to social media

All of these deserve a dressing down
