Cooper Middle School in McLean

Anyone know why a teacher was quietly let go?
Anonymous
No. It was too quiet.

If a teacher falls in the woods, and no one hears it...
Anonymous
Could you say how you seem to know the teacher was let go, as opposed to simply leaving?
Anonymous
Well it's not like me to gossip and spread rumors, but. . . .

The silence is deafening. Cooper needs to let parents know what happened, or people will keep suspecting the worst. Human nature.

Cooper needs to respond to community concerns.

How do you know the teacher was let go as opposed to leaving of their own accord for whatever reason?

Is any "community" except DCUM/ OP concerned?

And even if the community was concerned, the school is legally required under most circumstances to keep her HR information confidential, including her reason for leaving. All the demanding in the world is going to get you the information you want, since the school is probably not allowed to release it and is not interested in having her sue them.

My kids go to Cooper, and I have no idea what you are talking about. A long-term sub recently left due to needs of her family; that's quite different than being "quietly let go." I haven't heard of anything else that comes close to this, and we're pretty involved with the school.

OP, please clarify your point.

Dramatic much?

Cooper isn't allowed to indicate to its families whether a teacher left or was let go?

Sounds like a murky situation. If you don't leave, we'll fire you and that won't look good for you, will it? So best to quietly leave. Parents want to know.

OP, can you indicate which subject the teacher taught? I also have a child at this school and have not heard of any teacher not being there, and my kid tells me all kinds of things going on at school.

We have been very happy with Cooper, particularly the clear communication from the principal. If you have a concern, perhaps address it with her? She has always been clear with information in the past and I'm sure would answer your question.

I agree. We've been very happy with Cooper and find the principal, Arlene Randall, to be a straight-shooter and very open. I have no idea what OP is talking about; probably just an overly-dramatic troll.

Teacher left
OR
Was let go?
It's really a very simple question.
