Why did you delete my post?

Jeff, why did you delete my post questioning the OP's use of the word "bastard" in this thread? http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/503458.page

This OP posted a situation nearly identical yet hugely different in another thread.
It's 15:45 on this thread:

I think this is a troll. Are we not allowed to voice our suspicions?

Who are you?

I see you also deleted my post where I mentioned the other thread. I don't think that's right. I think we should be able to call a troll if we think it's a troll -- and if it's not, no big deal.

The shadow knows. And so does Jeff.

I deleted several posts from that topic that were argumentative and not responsive to the original post. Please try to be constructive in your responses to DCUM threads. If you doubt the veracity of a poster, please either report it to me or simply move on to another thread. It is extremely frustrating to have threads hijacked by posters claiming that one poster or another is a troll.

Also, the OP explained the previous post in her first post of the new thread.

I care about troll posts because I own the website and a forum full of trolls would be bad for business. But why do you care?

So just to be clear -- we are not to voice doubts about posters being trolls?

If you think someone is a troll, report to Jeff. Don't mess up the thread jawing about it.

What do you mean, why do I care? I care because I use the site, obviously.

Yes, but you don't read every thread do you? You skip the ones that don't interest you. If you think a thread was started by a troll, wouldn't you simply lose interest and treat it like any other thread that doesn't interest you? I really don't understand why some posters insist on disrupting threads.

NP here. Sometimes, I don't get the troll vibe until thread is a few pages long and the story keeps changing and then I have no guilt calling them out in the thread, even if it means you will (and likely should) delete my call out. Usually, though, I use the report button as soon as I recognize a troll, which I know is your preference and one I respect.

All that said, it can take awhile to recognize a troll and can be extremely irritating to suddenly recognize one, especially when people have been responding to them honestly and it can be really hard not to call them out and hit the send.

I post all this to try and explain why some of us occasionally call out the troll as opposed to losing interest and ignoring the thread.

However, I will endeavor to do better every day and respond with the report button because I really do respect your work here and don't often (or purposely) try to make your work harder.

Thanks for listening.
