backsplashes that make me want to scream

Anonymous
I'm so sick of the pinterest inspired kitchens with glass mosaic tile backsplashes.

They make me so angry, I immediately judge the home owner to be a brainless, unimaginative, starbucks sipping twit. And I'm the first to admit that I'm unimaginative.

When will this fad end? And please tell me it was inexpensive enough that people will take them down as soon as the fad is over.

You need anger management classes.

I don't get exercised about other people's decorations.

You're right. I've gone overboard. I belong to a facebook group about "white walls" and every single person on there seems to have this, or wants to have this, or asks questions about which of 14 similar patterns looks best. I'm taking my anger out on backsplashes. I do need anger mgmt group sessions. Or I just need to leave that stupid group.

Whoa. Are these houses you are looking to buy or people you know? Also, why so much anger about tile choices? Do you also get angry about curtains, carpeting, countertops...?

I'm with you OP. Those skinny little robins egg glass tiles look ridiculous.

What is a group about white walls and why does one join?

I'm an agent and I posted here that I was sick of this trend 4 or 5 YEARS ago. But I see a lot more houses than the average person so trends wear on me faster. It is time for something else, people with modern kitchens.

Oh, ok, I've seen those. What's wrong with them again? I don't have them, but they don't seem that bad to me, a bit dizzying, but I like the glass tile look. Maybe more appropriate for a bathroom?

New poster here. They make a small space that should bridge two different elements (countertop and cabinets above) too busy/cluttered looking. It's just not a good area for something flashy. But my mother used a gift card I gave her to buy some of this awful tile for her kitchen.

But what if the counter was plain, meaning no specks like the picture? I don't think that would look bad. Although, as I stated, I think those types of tiles look better in bathrooms. I think it's the glassiness of the tile. I just associate glassy tiles with bathrooms, not kitchens.
