I always look too casual for the East Coast but I don’t feel comfortable dressing up. |
Sigh. That’s what some Americans don’t understand. It is. It’s actually the most important piece of it. |
I feel the same way, though it does seem to have gotten a bit more casual than it was when I moved here over a decade ago |
Oh definitely. Like with the TX posters, I assume when I picture their blinged out jeans, they are probably Miss Mes and the women are heavier than is the norm in the DMV. My sisters and SILs live in Austin/Houston/Dallas and the average woman tends to be significantly heavier than here. |
those are beautiful! i’m especially entrances because i just saw midsommar and now i just want to wear all white (and join a swedish death cult - whatever, it was a good movie!) |
I don’t miss it, I do wear it all the time (well, not in summer in DC). That wasn’t the title of the thread though, or perhaps I misunderstood |

Every time I go to Texas I’m blown away by how “done” the women are. I’ve been on overnight flights that have landed in Dallas at 6am and the women in the airport have full makeup, perfect blowouts, perfectly coordinated and accessorized outfits, and I’m just thinking “what time did you have to wake up at to be through security looking like that at 6?” It’s impressive. I don’t consider myself a slob or low-maintenance even, but that’s a whole other level of dedication. |

Not in Austin proper. Austin is a crunchy fit college town full of young athletic people. |
This is OP - and you did not misunderstand! You understood perfectly. |
This would be my DH's answer. He's from northern Minnesota. I'm a military brat with deep roots in Maine and agree with the PPs who mentioned the Beans catalog. |
I should move here because I'd LOVE to live in this uniform! So comfy! |
