That’s great whataboutism. This is about children kicking a ball. |
| A reminder that his salary is also supported by your tax dollars. ASA operates on city owned fields and pays next to nothing for them. I get that I won't be able to use everything my tax dollars pay for but to compare, the superintendent of schools earn $265,000. |
LOL |
Yeah, but, like, that’s barely the complexity of running, checks job, a youth soccer program. |
But you don’t understand the complexity! You’re just mad your child is on the 6th team.

Haters are running wild
Does his salary reduce yours? |
It increases my taxes to subsidize the City’s rec programs so they get to use fields for almost free. But yeah, just a hater. |
not the PP. but I still don't understand how reducing his salary would change what the city charges for rec programs. Are you saying if he made less money, he would do his job at ASA less effectively and they would pay more for the fields? |
Nice attempt to spin it |
|
Recent topics posters strike again! I'm sure no one who works in Arlington is overpaid compared to most places.
They don't get almost free access to fields JFC |
It’s not spin, it’s basic economics. They are a non profit. If they make $6m in revenue that they pay no taxes on and lower their expenses on top of that with basically subsidized cost field access, all so they can further reduce their net income by padding salaries and other fluff, yeah that comes out of your wallet whether you believe it or not. Astounding that in this area that actually needs to be said out loud. |
|
Now, if I were someone who cares about such things in my community, I might actually demand that in exchange for that low cost access, that ASA provide an income-based youth program at young ages and commit to a certain amount of scholarship funds from that $6m in revenue instead of an exec director salary that is literally double the norm for this area. You might even suggest that spending that money might have knock on effects years down the line in terms of reduced costs for government services related to youth by way of special education, criminal justice services, etc.
But sure, why ask for such things from non profits using YOUR tax dollars. |
| As an alexandria resident, it drives me nuts that ASA pushes itself in the Alexandria Day of Giving charity things and generally wins things like the most individual donors, most money raised in certain time frames, etc so they win all these matching awards when most of the other non-profits in it are truly scraping by on the backs of volunteers. |
| Somebody is mad kid didnt make team or got cut lol.....funny how these post happen around this time every year.... |
PP here. Kid has previously gotten a first team offer from ASA and chose elsewhere having nothing to do with ASA which we have no problem with. Don’t wade into adult conversations about local government, non profits and taxes if all you have to offer is the standard DCUM braindead take. |
