ASA Director $382k A Year

Because those wallets are from parents desperately trying to keep the NOVA life going in households where people have money because two parents work not because they are in private equity or have trust funds. What if all the kids needed scholarships? When the Director is expecting his $400k salary, you cannot tell me that kids whose parents with money do not get preferences despite skill, or lack thereof.

How does the Director salary translate to preferential treatment for some players?

If you examine the 990 more, ASA brought in $6.69 million in revenue and the costs of salaries, benefits, and payroll taxes was $2.8 million.

What if all the best kids come from families without money - the revenue stream quickly dries up if Larla or Larlo do not make the teams and require scholarships.

Is there a free pay-to-play club around?

I don't get it. Is he supposed to manage the organization on $20K a year and live off EBT? In the US, this is how it works, and it's not changing.

He definitely is not worth that.

No, but closer to something like $200k would be more reasonable. It’s an absurd salary, but many Alexandria parents also make absurd salaries at their jobs, so it doesn’t bother them.

Child labor it is then!

Another perspective is that we, the people, are paying too much for your position if you have the free capacity to do this research. You have to work for the government with that much time on your hands.

Club soccer is a privilege. The kids who are good enough do not have to pay regardless of their economic circumstances. Most kids are not that good.

There is a local league that costs $50 a season and you actually get a t-shirt. The desire for professional coaching, turf fields, etc. is a choice we all make and I don’t complain about who makes what as it is none of my business.

Signing up your kid to play a sport is the same as an eight year old working in a factory during the Industrial Revolution?

Your child’s labor and your money is paying someone $400k a year. Not The Jungle, but should cause pause.

When did it become okay to become wealthy off the backs of children just trying to make a team?

How much do you think a CEO of a similarly sized organization gets paid in Arlington? Complain all you want, but $$$ is the wrong path.

Why youth sports need a CEO is where it has all gone terribly wrong - kids do not have money, and kids also cannot control whether their parents have money.

Way to completely miss the point - They're not a "CEO" but I used that as a comparison and I bet a ton of non-profits with that amount of responsibility/revenue are paid similarly at the top. Again, barking up the wrong tree - complain about mismanagement or how your kid on the 6th team was treated unfairly, but this is large organization.

I actually have no kids playing - but as an Alexandrian, the monopoly of ASA and the City resources expended for ASA to see that the director is getting paid $400k off the backs of children is unbelievable.

It's quite believable because it's happening - again do you realize how many kids/families this involves. This is not a mom & pop operation.
