Prepping for storm tomorrow…

I am envisioning severe traffic today. Mass exodus of people combined with bad weather, this is a terrible idea.

Reporting from downtown and Foggy Bottom. It's very, very quiet. I think those who could work from home, did.
OPM is closing early today at 2 pm. My job (non-government) also announced early departure. I think rush hour, at least in DC, will be lighter.

The 2 pm closure is kind of ridiculous since looking out my window to the west it is extremely dark and there is a line of storms approaching that is probably about 20 minutes from downtown. It looks like a lull after that so I will get through my workday and leave.

OPM closing at same time the severe t-storm was passing by. Shoulda closed at noon instead so silly now everyone is scrambling on the roads causing more of a headache with traffic and geez so much water on the roads.

Again, explain how this one makes sense?? Do your faucets run on electric or something????

DP, but if you have well water, that doesn't work when the power is out so you don't have water. I guess the answer to your question is yes, the faucets run on electricity.

?? do many people in the DMV have well water?

I live in a close in suburb and we lose power any time the wind blows. I don't see the point in any preparation besides making sure we have a few flashlights.

Nothing is going to happen. The widespread tornado watch was cancelled early an hour ago. Once again the news/Capital weather game, etc got everyone into hysterics and were completely wrong (“this forecast was difficult to pin down “).

Ridiculous.

Wow what a storm.

Well the ground is damp here so there are still slip and fall risks.

Sooner or later, people are just going to start ignoring all of these hyped up weather warnings…

Don't worry, the media will gaslight you into believing that we just survived WW3.

I survived the storm of 2026!

Wait, isn't there a second storm we are supposed to watch out for?

This is my concern. That next time there is an actual tornado risk people will ignore.

That’s on them. Very unfortunate for the people tasked with picking up or mopping up the pieces though.

CWG was explicit this morning that having the ingredients for a bad storm didn't mean there would definitely be a bad storm. They said there might be nothing, there was potential for bad storms but confidence was low.

All the angst about not getting a tree down on your house and no power. Ohhhhh but the childcare....!
Get a grip. You knew it was inconvenient when you bred them.

I’m so grateful there weren’t severe storms - that so outweighs the minor inconveniences of an incorrect prediction.
