What's the reason behind religious leaders betraying God, church, their congregations and basic humanity?

I agree with you. Now that I fully understand these texts were written by men from the perspective of men it makes complete sense that there would be so much talk about sex and also most of the limitations required of women. I still don't exactly understand why priests can't get married and what the impetus was behind this. I have a hard time believing it was popular when it was decided. Were they mostly gay priests back then too?

I learned that priests couldn't marry because the church feared that too much of their money would go to their families instead of to the church.

It's a way to get access to prey and to convince yourself you are a good person. The power can be intoxicating and make you think you are immune.

Forgot to add, it's also a way to know who is most vulnerable-easier to take advantage of that person.

Who is excusing or justifying it?

+1. THis is one of thousands of examples of how the "bible" was written, compiled, etc, that have destroyed the faith for so many. Learning the history of the bible makes it so damn clear why and how it was written and how much baloney it all is...except for the power it is able to wield through indoctrination through the generations.

Because religion isn't real, it's a culture.

Some cultures are real.

Humans are flawed. I still gave faith on God. I don't have faith in man.

Next time someone is in need of serious medical care, you have two options available.

Get on your knees and pray or take them to the emergency room. I can guarantee one will have much better odds of success than the other.

I'll leave it up to you to test it out next time. 🥸

Yes, but in the Dr's office they often over proscribe just to keep you coming back. Not very God-like.

Also, not good medical practice.

I don't see any excuses being made to justify crime. I see criminals being arrested.

It's easy to have faith in God -- he's up in heaven, causing no trouble.

Unsupervised access to kids is usually not a good idea for a large percentage of men.
