What's the reason behind religious leaders betraying God, church, their congregations and basic humanity?

What excuse religious people use to justify this ? It seems higher in churches but no religion seems immune to it.

also fantasy. Many religious people live in a fantasy world. They don't really see their actions as having much meaning compared to their belief. This is why belief is such a big deal in these religious communities. It's really all they have.

People do awful things to each other. It's not more or less common among religious people.

Unsupervised access to kids is usually not a good idea for a large percentage of men.

Put people in institutional settings with positions of power over others, limit their ability to express their sexual needs in healthy ways, and add the belief that the guy is a Godly person with high morals, and you end up with molestation.
