MPD Chief Pamela Smith Stepping Down

For example:

“There’s always been immense pressure to bring down crime stats. There always has been pressure to downgrade offenses (carjacking to auto theft or robberies to thefts) and the management at MPD has always been incredibly toxic. Lieutenants and captains will throw you under the bus quickly if it makes them look good. Many are angling to be a commander or chief and that won’t happen if violent crime stats are high when they’re working. You double down and refuse to downgrade then they’ll downgrade it themselves and now you’re on their shit list

But Pam Smith amplified that toxic culture ten fold. She created a cult around her. MPD posted a video on their social media celebrating her birthday. It felt very North Korea dear leader. Just very odd. She has her own advance team (why tf does the dc police chief need a driver and an advance team. I’d argue not even the mayor needs that).

She demanded loyalty and if you weren’t she would make your life hell. Walked by her and didn’t salute her? Prepare to get screamed at and humiliated in front of your coworkers. If you’re a lieutenant and you had too many violent crimes during your shift in the beats you oversee? You’ll be screamed at, belittled, and retaliated against. Move you to a different shift every couple of weeks so you can never adjust to the hours, tell you to come in on your day off just to send you home as soon as you get there.

Smith came from US Park Police (tells you everything you need to know about her and her willingness to let MPD cooperate with ICE) and her reputation as an officer was less then stellar. Left her k9 to overheat in her hot car when she was assigned to the NYC division. Failed upwards and became chief and pulled the same stuff. Thinking about it, she acted like trump. Narcissistic and demanded loyalty”

Why would Trump do this?

“These investigations expose a systemic pattern of deliberate crime data manipulation under Chief Pamela Smith, designed to fabricate the illusion of falling crime rates while actual violent and property crimes surged. This betrayal has left thousands of cases uninvestigated, allowing dangerous criminals to roam free and denying countless victims even a shred of
justice. These reports raise serious questions about the timing of Chief Smith’s resignation.”

This is very obviously true to anyone who lived downtown in the past few years. What did anyone expect but someone like Trump to come in and take advantage of the truth holes that we created. Please people, understand there will always be backlash consequences, in addition of course to the terror in which we were living with stray bullets and begging for police support for several years. It was hell.

The police union is telling the truth here.

Chief Smith intentionally lied to you - the citizens of D.C. - and gave you the false sense of a decreasing crime-rate in D.C., when the opposite has been true.

So when you’re under pressure falsify crime stats?

Stages of DCUM

1) It's definitely not happening.
2) it's not happening.
3) I doubt it's happening because the sun, moon and planets aren't in alignment according to the internet.
4) It might be happening, but it's no big deal.
5) Well, it's happening, but it's good for us because all studies show strychnine promotes healthy teeth and gums.

6) It's Trump's fault

But he also said there were no murders over X amount of weeks and there definitely were. So he too is falsifying stats.

So it turns out we really did need the National Guard here after all.

No, apples and oranges. We need POLICE!

Are the posters on this forum that vehemently defended crime being down in D.C. want to chime in now? Has this changed your perspective?

Nobody wants to be a DC cop. It’s an impossible job.

Not a defender of crime being down, but the mayor just batted this away as political.
