I've never looked better at 52 with two kids in college. It's about weight management and leaning into the styles that look best on me. I spend $$ on shoes and hair color. The pants I wore to an event today were 25 years old. |
+1 not necessarily skinny but appropriate weight for your body type, invest in a great haircut and skin cream/makeup (Chantecailles, Lancome, etc), and buy well cut/styled clothes (I look for sales regularly). |
Where are you getting the body suits and tees? |
That's because she's a work of fiction. |
| Someone mentioned not outright copying, but getting ideas from those you admire. My kids are now teens, but when they were 4, at one of their activities there was a mom who always looked great. I think she was actually French, but at least gave her enough Frenchness in my mind that I refer to her at French Mom. Sometimes when I’m shopping (still! 10 years later) I ask myself “would French mom wear that?”. I still want to express my own preferences and dress for the occasion, but it helps me to have that image in my mind. |

Ok I would consider my aunt a cool girl at 74, here are my observations:
1. Never married- apparently the lack of stress of dealing with a man can make you look 30 years younger, has 3 sisters who prove my hypothesis. 2. Knows how to sew and alter her own clothes. 3. Does not give a F what is trendy or what people think- wears what she likes and what looks good on her. Gets genuine joy from things she thinks are pretty and likes looking pretty. 4. Somewhat vigilant about her weight but not in a miserable way because she does not want to have to go out and buy new clothes. 5. Has never concerned herself with skincare but has really, really, insanely oily skin that I believe is the equivalent of a lot of good skincare. At 74 has very, very few wrinkles. 6. Knows the importance of good hair and accessories- girlfriend loves her jewelry. 7. Highly active, worked in an intellectually demanding job until 70's, comfortable in her own skin and really |
