Dumped over politics

Outside of this difference our relationship was good. In the past few years it just seems many people have become pollitically consumed and it sucks.

He sounds like a loser. Only losers obsess over politics.

It's a form of addiction. You are better off without him.

I wrote this. And now Charlie Kirk is dead. Enough said.

Have you been in the US Senate recently? Doesn’t sound like it.

If you have nothing else to do in your pathetic life other than typing up illiterate crap about the Anti Anerican Dictator, feel free to do so in the Political forum. Daily, if you like.

Ok, then you trying be literate for a second. Please explain how your right to vote is in danger. My guess is you won’t answer this. I’m expecting nothing but silence.

I think it's because they haven't grown up in a place where the remnants and history of the ramifications of extremism are so widespread, and perhaps they think they have the luxury of 'not thinking about it that much'. But truly, this is a code red situation and i would completely understand anyone wanting to talk about it a LOT. If op doesn't it could come across as that they aren't smart enough to see the bigger picture, or have very different concerns. I mean - we're living in the most extreme time in american history. If dh was like 'i dont want to talk about it' i would question his ability to grasp that fact.

Americans are idiots.

I understand breaking up with someone because you have different political views. Political views relate to your values, your worldview, etc. But breaking up because you don’t want to OD on political news and discuss it everyday is bizarre. I’ve been happily married for close to 20 years and can tell you that, while I think spouses should have some shared interests, you don’t have to have all of the same interests as your spouse or exactly the same level of interest in the same things. Plus, while I think being informed is important, in our current political environment, I don’t think ODing on political news everyday is very healthy. I think you dodged a bullet, OP.

I agree with him! Politics? Nope, these are values, not politics. The political ship sailed a decade ago. Right now, if you aren’t interested, don't care, or side with evil, nope, you are not a candidate for a relationship.

IT'S NOT POLITICS! IT'S ALL OUR LIVES NOW. Good grief. I would dump OP just for being dumb.

Better to end it now/know upfront.

Whoa, are you gonna dump me?

Hope so.

Many people are damaging their mental health with the amount of news they consume. Should we be aware and vote? Yes. But people are wasting their lives watching/reading the news, arguing online, and it gives them massive cortisol spikes and ruins their mental health.

I've seen people spiral to where they spend hours a day on news consumption and neglect their families and become overall unbearable to be around.

This.

By 2028 there will not be a US as we knew it. Your daughters won’t freely be able to cross state lines and you think people are too consumed by the news.

We are watching Nazis take over the US in real time anyone with a brain is watching the news constantly. Not FOx actual news.

You'll thank him later.

Post 2015, politics has helped destroy my marriage, and I can hardly wait to put this all behind me. Good riddance!
