Outside of this difference our relationship was good. In the past few years it just seems many people have become pollitically consumed and it sucks.
DC is the most screwed up place for political thinking. For the most part, people in this area think they are more politically astute simply because of their proximity to the seat of government. This could not be further from the truth. The fact is, because people are so close and usually only a few degrees away from the federal government, that they are MUCH LESS KNOWLEDGEABLE about government. Let me explain. Their political knowledge is based on theory and political ideology. Their own finances are tied to government money. They literally have no other industry that supports them. (with a few exceptions of course). The rest of the country is tied to local economies that have value based on the goods or services that they produce (automotive, technology, hospitality, furniture, farming, etc....). As a result, they are directly impacted by the policies and trade agreements set forth by DC. Because of this, they are much more aware of what these policies mean for them and the industries they support and that support them.
Basically speaking, our prosperity in DC is built on the backs of everyone else in this country. The people of this region are not much more than welfare recipients of the rest of the country, and honestly, your opinions are the lease valid of anyone else's in this country. It's funny how you don't realize your own stupidity and ignorance.
As a result, we have fools breaking up with their spouses and lovers over something that they know very little about. You don't see this happening most other places.
