No. My son applied EA. Are you an alumni that had a bad experience there? How come you feel so strongly about people who choose the school?
What's your own personal experience with UChicago?

DP, and I totally get this decision. I loved the intellectual atmosphere of UChicago. I got accepted back in the day and my parents made me go to a higher ranked school and I still am kind of ticked off about that because it should have been my decision.

Haha, I get this too. I passed up UChicago 25+ years ago and I still think about it sometimes. I also passed up UChicago law too, but don't regret that choice as much.

Thrilled that DC '26 is applying.

I had a friend in HS (now in his 50s) who turned down Princeton for Chicago back in the day. Thought Princeton was too much of a party school. Now a STEM PhD.

+ for the pipeline

slight drop in prestige? Not on east coast and, while I've heard of Bucknell, I've barely heard of it.

I also passed over U of C undergrad and law. But the U of C then is not the same as the U of C now.

Please explain how your kid got into all 3 of these!

DC is very smart and worked hard.

Gee. Why didn't I think of that? You should be a college counselor. Brilliant advice.

Had to be some kind of hook. Spill the beans!

Yes, the hook was 1600 SAT, 4.0 gpa, high-impact activities, well-written essays. Shocking, right?

OMG, yes. Rice is one of the best feeders to medical school there is. And if they were offering significant aid over Stanford would take it in a heartbeat before dealing with the costs of medical school.

Rice is the new Duke.

You mean loser? Bucknell is a very good school but it is kind of sad what a joke it has become around here because of the actions of one or a few people.
