Not exactly but she did bring the rankings up to 1 for a couple of years. 2015 #3 2016 #5 2017 #6 2018 #6 2019 #10 2020 #4 2021 #1 2022 #1 2023 #5 2024 #14 |
That really doesn’t prove anything right? |
Glazer took over as principal in 2007 and witnessed the lowest rating in the school’s history. #20 in I believe 2012 or 13. |
It proves that a growing number of students are competing for one of the nation’s top high school science prizes. It puts a pretty sizeable dent into the narrative that TJ is somehow collapsing under the weight of the new admissions process. |
Not really, when the only way to show diversity is by lowering standards and loading up the class with minimum math students, and facilitating remedial classes for them. Externally, the decline is visible with the drop in SOL scores and ranking from 1st to 14th and further expected. |
Potomac School which is a small independent school produced 3 this year. Averages two every year. |

Class of 2025 is the first to graduated under the new admissions policy.
I expect a mixed outcome, worse than class of 2024. Around 50% of the class will get into schools like that of class of 2024. But the bottom half of the class is going to be screwed due to bad grades, less academic rigor |
Some of us have worked hard to sew that false narrative in the hope of returning to a more gameable process. |
I expect the best outcomes in a decade. |
These rankings always trail reality. The lack of diversity hurt TJ up until they fixed the process. |
I think the most likely outcome is actually a spreading out of the destinations. You'll see significantly more top 20 matriculations but you'll also see a lot more of the George Masons, JMUs, and VCUs because of costs to the family (and a little bit because of expansion of exceptional programs at GMU and VCU). You'll see more matriculations to solid state schools and non-traditional TJ destinations who can gobble up some of these kiddos with major scholarship offers. The raw numbers of accepted scholarship dollars will skyrocket with this class - no doubt. |
Hit send too soon. What will probably hollow out is the matriculations to mid-tier expensive schools and SLACs. I think you'll also see fewer UVAs and Techs than in recent years because those kids will take scholarship money to go to a slightly lower ranked but still strong school as a value proposition. |
That was after the last time they tried to achieve "diversity" at TJ. |
It's also one of the best private school in northern virginia. |
So? |
