That's certainly what I would do if i had that kind of cash. I wouldn't want to worry about whether my land was going to disappear or hurricanes when I'm not there etc.

People who have this type of cash are the ones not worrying about land disappearing. the elites all own beachfront property, they preach about climate change but don't particularly worry about it themselves Many have so much money if they lose 5 mil it's not anything devastating.

Honestly, I think most of us have our heads in the sand about land disappearing. And a lot of people are going to be really upset when it happens.

The plus is the Ferry does not run at night and extremely few hotels so no annoying tourists to ruin your night.

Plus rentals under 30 days illegal so no annoying AirBnB homes everywhere.

Fire Island’s season is over by Labor Day or mid-September, unlike Rehoboth Beach which is now virtually a year-round community. I was shocked by how hard it was to get a reservation last MLK weekend - mid-January! If OP thinks RB is too cold, any northern area is out of the question, particularly Fire Island.

Sullivan's Island Beach or this beach, right by Charleston SC with a ton of things to do. This is as far South you can go drive from DC if you had to. All highways no back roads or a cheap nonstop flight out of BWI.

Any further South if you get a Spring Break with sky high airline prices or it is too far to drive if forced.

Being near fun town and an airport and near highway makes it easier to get there

People with as much money as OP is claiming keep their home in Rehoboth and buy another one in Florida.

There must have been an event going on, or you had a very narrow search. It's not hard to get a reservation in Rehoboth except from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Hotel/airbnb prices are about 60-75% lower in the offseason because there is so little demand.

Meh. I don't really get the appeal of Hilton Head.

Bald Head Island is really great.

Compared to Kiawah, it's at least 2 hours closer by car -- or fly into Wilmington. Can swim in the ocean from April to October. No cars on the island, just golf carts and bikes. LOVE BHI.

Have you looked in California, like in Malibu?

OP - consider a lake out west, close to ski mountains. That way you get summer water activities and winter skiing.

I wouldn’t do the east coast! I grew up on an island and you deal with a major hurricane every ten years
